What Are Some Common Magnesium Myths (and Are They True)?

While magnesium is pretty amazing, we do need to clear the air about a few misconceptions we’ve heard over the years.

Myth: All magnesium supplements are the same.

Reality: There are actually several different forms of magnesium available to help target specific needs.

Myth: Magnesium deficiency is rare.

Reality: More people than you think aren’t getting enough magnesium during the day. Data from the USDA indicates that nearly half of all Americans consume insufficient amounts of magnesium daily.1

Myth: Magnesium is only for muscle issues or sleep.

Reality: Magnesium does promote sleep and muscle comfort, but it is also needed for over 300 enzymatic reactions; in the body helping support functions like energy production and protein synthesis.

Myth: Taking magnesium causes stomach problems.

Reality: Chelated forms are far easier on your stomach, but know that some forms of magnesium can have a laxative effect.

You be well, now.
