How to Use a Sugar Scrub

A sugar scrub is used to help smooth out rough skin. Essentially, the sugar granules act as the scrubbing or exfoliating mechanism. To use it, simply massage the sugar scrub in small circular movements over rough patches of skin, such as on your elbows, knees or feet. Using a sugar scrub on your face is generally not recommended.

It's easiest to use your sugar scrub in the shower, so you can easily rinse it off when you are done.

Should I Make or Buy a Sugar Scrub?

Sugar scrubs are popular treatments at spas. You can buy them at a spa or often online for $10-$30 per jar. Making your own sugar scrub is a great way to save money and enjoy the same luxurious spa-style treatment. If you have all the ingredients on hand, the total cost for each jar will come in around $1. If you don't mind spending a bit of money and simply want to buy a sugar scrub, we sell a few different varieties on our website. You can check them out here.

I've tried a variety of homemade sugar scrub recipes and have found this one to be my favorite. You will appreciate that this relaxing scrub is made completely with natural ingredients. I always try to avoid harsh chemicals or unpronounceable ingredients.

You'll be amazed at how easy it is to make this natural homemade sugar scrub.

Mix ingredients together one at a time in a large bowl. If needed, add more dry or liquid ingredients to get the consistency you desire. The coconut, vanilla and almond give this sugar scrub a sweet scent, but you may add your own essential oils if you wish. Fill a pint-sized jar with the sugar scrub and seal with lid.

This sugar scrub is so simple, easy and low-cost, that I often make extra jars to giveaway as gifts.

In a food processor, combine cranberries, glycerin and almond oil just long enough to blend the ingredients without turning the berries to a pulp. The mixture should be thick. Transfer to a bowl and stir in sugar and essential oil. Add just enough of the oat powder to create a thick mixture you can apply to your skin.
