Raw flax seeds (also known as linseed) have a high oil content; and although the oil is relatively stable while the seed is intact, refrigeration is recommended to slow the oxidation process and prolong the life of the seed. They have a bland, slightly green-grassy, nutty taste and add about 5 grams of natural, vegetarian protein to any smoothie, shake, baked good, etc. that you may be working with. Frontier® Co-Op Whole Flax Seed is certified organic and non-irradiated. The nutty flavor of flaxseeds combined with their natural offering of omega-3 fatty acids makes them a popular addition to many diets. While whole flaxseeds feature a soft crunch, the nutrients in ground seeds are more easily absorbed.
