Swanson Bromelain veggie caps feature super-potent bromelain in a delayed-release veggie cap that enables it to pass through the stomach without losing its enzymatic potential, delivering a powerful 1,200 GDU to be absorbed in the lower gastrointestinal tract for optimal systemic activity. GDU (gelatin digesting units) measures the digestive potential of an enzyme—the higher the number the greater the activity.
Bromelain is a proteolytic enzyme derived from the stem of the pineapple that has protein-digesting properties. Proteases like bromelain break down the protein you get from food and turns it into amino acids, helping to ensure you get the most out of the foods you eat.
