Zinc Orotate is a high-bioavailability mineral salt that combines elemental zinc with a heterocyclic compound known as orotic acid. The use of orotic acid as a mineral transport facilitator was pioneered by the renowned German orthomolecular physician Dr. Hans Nieper as a way to enhance the uptake of supplemental minerals into body tissues. The fact that orotic acid is a substance produced in the body makes it an outstanding mineral transporter, able to readily penetrate cell membranes and increase tissue concentrations.
