test-10 Gifts Newlyweds Will Love
10 Gifts Newlyweds Will Love
Amanda H. • December 17, 2014

I’ve been married for about a year and a half, but I certainly still feel like a newlywed. I remember putting together my registry, haphazardly throwing items on there with little thought to its usefulness. Since then, I’ve been a little smarter in what I give to friends getting married and I know what items I wish I would have gotten. That roasting pan, mandoline and deep fryer are still buried in the back of a closet, and it just goes to show that sometimes, little gifts are a lot more useful.

I love getting and giving gift baskets. Not only are there always uses for extra baskets to store your knick-knacks, but it’s a fun way to display a gift's contents. Here are 10 items that I feel any newlywed (or a new homeowner even!) could use in their humble abode:

1. Napa Valley Naturals Champagne Vinegar

Instead of giving the new lovebirds actual champagne or wine, why not try an item that is a little more practical that they can use in their kitchen? This fancy champagne vinegar makes a lovely vinaigrette or marinade.

2. If You Care Unbleached Parchment Baking Paper

I’m always finding uses for parchment paper, and this kind I feel good about using.

3. Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day Liquid Hand Soap in Rhubarb

Everyone needs hand soap, but not every kind will impress houseguests. This rhubarb scent is unique and delicious-smelling and ensures those newlyweds will get compliments on their fantastic taste in soap…or at least they’ll love smelling their own hands.

4. Full Circle Home Tidy Dish Cloths 100% Organic Cotton

I have yet to find a wedding registry without dish clothes on it, so you may as well get them the best. These cloths look pretty and are durable and organic to boot.

5. Swanson Organic 100% Certified Organic Cinnamon

Every new couple needs a new spice set, and our brand of organic spices are loved by our reviewers and staff alike. A few of my faves are the cinnamon, nutmeg, chili powder and peppercorns.

6. Dr. Bronner's Organic Castile Liquid Soap in Lavender

Soap isn’t always the most exciting gift, but what is exciting is when it has endless possibilities. Castille soap may be a new wife’s best friend – she (or even that new husband) can use it in the shower, in the kitchen, to make laundry soap, or clean just about anything without toxic chemicals. Dr. Bronner’s comes in a variety of scents too, but lavender is timeless.

7. J.R. Watkins All Purpose Wipes in Lemon

Messes happen, and I find myself reaching for a cleaning wipe all the time. I love the fresh lemony scent of these ones and it’s a fun way to freshen and clean.

8. Full Circle Home Tater Mate Potato Brush w/ Eye Remover

This is kind of a funny gift, but it’s totally practical! Instead of awkwardly digging out potato imperfections with that peeler, this tool makes it so much easier. It also cleans your spuds, plus, it’s durable, made with renewable bamboo and is super cute.

9. Swanson Organic House Blend Fine Ground Organic Coffee

What kitchen is complete without coffee? None, I tell you. Those newlyweds are gonna need some joe to keep them up as they write all those thank-you notes anyway, and this coffee is delicious.

10. Martha Stewart Collection Bamboo Cutting Board

Even if the new couple has a cutting board, they can get grubby over time, and I like to rotate mine anyway. Give them a lovely bamboo one they can add to their kitchen, and it can even double as a meat and cheese tray for their first party.
