Our enhanced formula pairs 200 mg of magnesium with 100 mg of L-theanine, an amino acid known for promoting a relaxed-but-alert mental state, creating a comforting combination for moments when you need to slow down and recharge.
Great for increasing GABA, serotonin, and dopamine levels and perfect for rest days and recovery, this non-drowsy formula can help you enjoy a sense of peace and calm without making you fall asleep.
Mellow Magnesium from Swanson Vitamins is formulated with Albion® chelated magnesium. Albion buffered magnesium is a thoughtfully engineered ingredient, not a simple blend. The magnesium bisglycinate and magnesium oxide are carefully combined using a special technology that creates a cohesive, unified product. This results in scientifically validated improved bioavailability, meaning your body can better absorb and utilize the ingredients in your supplement, maximizing effectiveness and value. This highly absorbable, easy-to-mix powder is available in three refreshing flavors: Berry Lemonade, Blue Raspberry and Black Cherry.

FAQ
What’s the difference between this new form of magnesium and the form in the previous blend?
The previous formula contained a blend of magnesium carbonate and magnesium citrate. The currently included magnesium bisglycinate form is more bioavailable, because the inclusion of two glycine molecules in this form provides an added layer of stability, helping deliver the magnesium through the digestive tract and where it needs to be to provide a benefit in the body.
Why has Swanson Mellow Mag been reformulated to include L-theanine?
The inclusion of L-theanine into this formulation provides additional support for the body’s nervous system, helping to provide a calm, focused mindset. Because L-theanine’s mechanism of action is distinct from magnesium bisglycinate, which also promotes a calm mind, it may provide a complementary benefit.
What is magnesium glycinate?
Magnesium glycinate is a gentle form of magnesium made by chelating magnesium with the amino acid glycine. Featuring a patented form of magnesium glycinate by Albion®, this formula provides even higher absorption for better relaxation, muscle function, and overall wellness making it a great choice for winding down at the end of the day.
What is L-theanine?
L-theanine is a naturally occurring amino acid found in tea leaves. It’s known for promoting a calm, relaxed state without causing drowsiness. When paired with magnesium, it helps support a balanced mood and a sense of ease.
What does “chelated” mean for supplements?
In supplements, “chelated” means a mineral has been chemically bound to another compound—usually an amino acid or organic molecule—to help improve absorption and make it easier for the body to use.
