Swanson's Ginkgo & Vinpocetine is a unique combination of standardized ginkgo extract and an extract of periwinkle called vinpocetine. Together they offer an excellent way to promote memory and concentration. A perfect combo for an active mind! Ginkgo biloba extract, when taken as part of a regular fitness regimen, may encourage the production of brain-derived neurotropic factor (BDNF) which supports the health and connectivity of neurons. Vinpocetine and compounds in ginkgo called terpene lactones are of particular interest. These work to support blood flow to the brain and protect nerve cells, both of which help to promote concentration, learning and reaction time.
This formula also encourages healthy circulation. This benefits not only blood flow to the brain, but tissues throughout the body as well, supporting vision, heart and sexual health. And because both ginkgo and vinpocetine have antioxidant properties they help defend against free radicals to support youthful-looking skin and healthy aging.
Each capsule delivers 40 mg of ginkgo biloba leaf extract and 5 mg of vinpocetine. We feature ginkgo standardized to 24% flavones and 6% terpene lactones—the potency studied to support working memory, focus and mental sharpness.

FAQ
- What Does Ginkgo Do in the Brain?
Research suggests that ginkgo's flavone glycosides and terpene lactones support cognitive function through multiple mechanisms, including antioxidant activity and support for healthy circulation. These compounds have been studied for their effects on neuronal function, cellular signaling, and cerebral blood flow. - What Does 24% Flavone Glycosides and 6% Terpene Lactones Mean?
These percentages refer to the standardized levels of two key groups of bioactive compounds found in ginkgo leaf extract. Flavone glycosides are antioxidant flavonoids, while terpene lactones include compounds such as ginkgolides and bilobalide. Standardization helps ensure consistent potency and composition from one serving to the next. - What Does Vinpocetine Do in the Brain?
Research suggests that vinpocetine supports cognitive function through its effects on cerebral circulation and neuronal metabolism. Studies indicate that it may help support the efficient use of oxygen and glucose by brain cells while also influencing cellular signaling pathways involved in cognitive performance. - Why Is Circulation Important for Cognitive Function?
The brain relies on a continuous supply of oxygen and nutrients delivered through the circulatory system. Healthy circulation helps support normal brain cell function, energy production, and communication between neurons, making it an important factor in overall cognitive performance. - Why Combine Vinpocetine and Ginkgo Biloba?
Vinpocetine and ginkgo biloba are often combined because they support cognitive wellness through complementary mechanisms. Ginkgo provides flavone glycosides and terpene lactones that support antioxidant activity and healthy circulation, while vinpocetine has been studied for its effects on cerebral blood flow and neuronal metabolism. Together, they provide a multifaceted approach to supporting cognitive function and mental performance. - Is Swanson Standardized Ginkgo & Vinpocetine Suitable for Special Diets?
Swanson Standardized Ginkgo & Vinpocetine is non-GMO. However, it is not suitable for vegan or vegetarian diets because the capsules contain gelatin.
