Protect your eyes with Swanson Lutein! This powerful carotenoid provides specific antioxidant protection for the macula and other delicate eye tissues. Lutein and related compounds help to filter blue light to protect eye and vision health. Blue light is everywhere, but our increased exposure to digital screens such as TVs, computers and smartphones means extra oxidative stress on our eyes.
Lutein accumulates in the macula, the portion of the retina responsible for central vision, where it helps form macular pigment. The antioxidant properties of lutein help protect the macula and other eye tissues and help maintain healthy eyes which is particularly important as we age. It is also found in the eyes, brain and skin. It helps protect these important organs from free radicals and oxidative stress. Research also suggests that 6-10 mg of lutein from food or dietary supplements may provide antioxidant capacity to the skin, helping to prevent oxidative damage to this important part of our body, as well.
As a fat-soluble carotenoid, lutein is better absorbed when taken with fat. Swanson Lutein is delivered in sunflower seed oil softgels for optimal and effective nourishment.
