FAQ
- How is the coffee decaffeinated?
This coffee uses a water decaffeination process. A first batch of green unroasted beans are soaked in hot water, which releases caffeine and coffee solids into the water, and those beans are discarded. The water then passes through a carbon filter that traps caffeine but lets the coffee solids pass through. The resulting water is then ready for a new batch of green unroasted coffee. The coffee solids from the new batch of beans are not removed, but the water dissolves and removes the caffeine. This process is repeated until 99.9% of the caffeine has been removed and trapped in the carbon filters. The beans are dried to maintain their flavor and smell. The process is chemical free. - What makes 100% Arabica coffee different from Robusta?
Swanson Organic French Roast Decaf Whole Bean Coffee is made with 100% organic Arabica coffee beans, which are prized for their smooth flavor and aromatic complexity. Compared to Robusta beans, Arabica naturally contains less caffeine and a wider range of flavor compounds, including sugars and organic acids that contribute to its rich, nuanced character. This dark French roast is decaffeinated using a chemical-free water process that removes 99.9% of the caffeine while helping preserve the coffee's bold flavor and aroma. - How much caffeine is in decaf Arabica coffee?
Swanson Organic French Roast Decaf Whole Bean Coffee is made from naturally caffeinated Arabica beans that undergo a water decaffeination process to remove 99.9% of the caffeine without the use of chemical solvents. While decaffeinated coffee is not completely caffeine free, it contains only a small fraction of the caffeine found in regular coffee, making it a great choice for those who want to enjoy the bold flavor and aroma of coffee while limiting their caffeine intake. - How should I store this coffee to keep it fresh?
To preserve freshness and flavor, store the whole beans in an airtight container in a cool, dry place away from heat, moisture, and direct sunlight. Exposure to oxygen, light, and humidity can gradually degrade the coffee's natural aromatic oils and volatile flavor compounds. For the freshest flavor, grind only the amount you need just before brewing, reseal the package promptly after each use, and avoid storing coffee in the refrigerator, where moisture and odors can affect its quality. - Is Swanson Organic French Roast Decaf Whole Bean Coffee suitable for special diets?
Yes. Swanson Organic French Roast Decaf Whole Bean Coffee is made to fit a variety of dietary preferences. It is vegan, vegetarian, non-GMO, USDA Organic, and dairy free. While this product is not certified gluten free, it contains no gluten ingredients. Whether you're looking for an organic decaf coffee or following a plant-based lifestyle, this coffee is a great choice for your daily cup.
