Vitamin D-3 from Healthy OriginsĀ® features 5,000 IU of vitamin D as cholecalciferol derived from lanolin in each softgel. Vitamin D is crucial for calcium absorption, skin and immune health. Also known as the Sunshine Vitamin, the body can make vitamin D upon exposure to sunlight, but factors such as more time spent indoors or living at more northern latitudes may decrease natural production. Supplemental vitamin D can support optimal levels in the body.

Q: How much vitamin D do I need each day?
In 2016, the Food and Nutrition Board increased the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) of vitamin D for most adults from 10 mcg (400 IU) to 15 mcg (600 IU) per day, and 20 mcg (800 IU) for ages 70+.
Some doctors and nutritionists recommend higher daily vitamin D intakes, especially for those at risk for having low levels.
