Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sunny Side Up This is a great supplement, especially for winter time when we get fewer rays of vitamin D from the sun. I like the liquid application for better usage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Vitamin D Supplment This liquid Vitamin D-3 from Now Foods is very good. It comes in the form of a tasteless oil, so it can be absorbed by the body. Comes with a dropper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple Sports Energy Drink Just one or two drops of D3 into my bottled water that I usually mix with MIO (water flavor enhancer) and maybe some liquid B12 and a drop of liquid Magnesium, and I have something much better than a Sports Energy Drink.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sunshine in a Bottle I have been using this product due to my low levels of Vitamin D, and have also added it to my children's daily regimen. I keep it on hand throughout the fall and winter months. My children have no problem taking it straight, and say they are taking their "drops".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easiest to take I really like the liquid Vitamin D supplement. It is so much easier to take than a pill and super easy to alter the dosage. I had a vitamin D defiency and it didn't take long for my level to rise. By the next doctor visit my level was normal.

Q: Why are some vitamin D products measured in IU while others are in mcg?

Due to changes in FDA labeling guidelines, vitamin D amounts must now be listed in micrograms (mcg) on supplement facts and nutrition labels instead of international units (IU). Although these new guidelines were issued in 2016, updates weren't required until June 2020.

At Swanson, we began updating our labels in early 2017. You will see a mixture of both IU and mcg as our national brand partners complete this process.

Q: Did my vitamin D supplement change?

A: You may have noticed a change in the daily value percentage on your favorite vitamin D product, but that doesn't mean your product changed. The FDA increased the recommended daily intake (RDA) of vitamin D, which means the same product with the same ingredient amounts fulfills a lower percentage of the RDA than it prior to the change.

Q: How much vitamin D do I need each day?

In 2016, the Food and Nutrition Board increased the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) of vitamin D for most adults from 10 mcg (400 IU) to 15 mcg (600 IU) per day, and 20 mcg (800 IU) for ages 70+.

Some doctors and nutritionists recommend higher daily vitamin D intakes, especially for those at risk for having low levels. The Vitamin D Council, an organization dedicated to raising awareness about vitamin D, recommends average adults supplement with 125 mcg (5,000 IU) of vitamin D daily. Talk with your doctor about your individual needs.
