It's not just for curry anymore! Yes, Swanson Organic Turmeric Tea is delicious when steeped in warm almond or coconut milk. And yes, you've seen recipes for turmeric smoothies and "Golden Milk" tea... but did you know this wonder spice could do all this?

1Whiten Your Teeth - source

Seems counterintuitive to use something known to stain everything yellow (thanks a lot, mustard), to get whiter and brighter teeth, but people swear it works! Combine 3 tablespoons of softened coconut oil, 2 teaspoons baking soda, and 1 teaspoon turmeric to create a paste. Use on a dry toothbrush, and be careful not to splatter.

2Get Crafty with Tie-Dye

Put that stain-everything-yellow quality to good use! Boil a large pot of water with 3–5 tablespoons of turmeric powder and channel your grade grade school art teacher (or follow the steps here or here).

3Make a Non-Toxic Food Dye - source

When you're done with Arts & Crafts time, relax with a pretty—and delicious—frosted cupcake! The most common yellow dye, Yellow #5, is a petroluem byproduct. Yuck. Use turmeric for a brilliant yellow coloring instead. If you're concerned about the flavor, it's easily masked by fruit or flavor extracts.

4Get Glowing Skin - source

Glowing, not yellow—really! Combine 1 egg white (whisked until frothy), 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice, and 1/3 teaspoon of turmeric powder and apply to your face (avoiding delicate eye area). Relax for 10–15 minutes, then rinse off with warm water. Alternately, for a version that targets the eye area use 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon raw organic honey, and 1 teaspoon of milk or yogurt.

5Add Some Variety to Movie Night - source

Skip the giant bag of imitation-butter-flavor popcorn and make a natural snack! Four tablespoons each celery salt and dried parsley, six teaspoons each garlic powder, salt, and savory, two teaspoons each thyme and marjoram, and one teaspoon each pepper, turmeric, and ground sage. Combine all, toss with freshly popped organic popcorn. Fire up your Netflix and settle in.

6Make Immunity-Boosting Gummies - thecookspyjamas.com/cold-busting-coconut-gummies/

Coconut milk, ginger, honey, turmeric, and gelatin (or agar). Plus how cute are these?

7Entertain the Kids

Make your own Play-Doh®, but make it non-toxic, naturally dyed, and even gluten free! Made from just flour, water, salt, oil, and cream of tartar, you can whip up a rainbow of colors using everything from turmeric and tea to beets and berries.

* A word of caution: Consuming excess turmeric can casue stomach upset. Avoid consuming if you are pregnant or if you have bile duct obstruction, gallstones, hyperacidity, or stomach ulcers.
