What's the Difference Between Good and Bad Oils?
Vitamins and Supplements FAQs • March 2, 2011

Question: We used to hear how bad fats and oils were, and now all I hear is how healthy they are for the heart. There are so many oils to choose from I don't know where to start. What's what?

We now know that all fats are not created equally. We still should avoid too many saturated fats found in meat and dairy products and the hydrogenated fats in processed foods, but the fats that are rich in essential fatty acids (EFAs) are good choices. The omega-3 and omega-9 EFAs are especially important for cardiovascular health. Read this guide if you are looking for information on the healthiest cooking oils.
