Vitamins and Supplements FAQs • March 2, 2011
Question: I have a question regarding folate and ovarian cancer that appeared in your newsletter of June 17. Please tell me the supplemental dosage recommended and also a few examples of foods highest in folate.

The recommended supplemental dosage of folate, or folic acid, is 400 to 800 micrograms per day. Foods with significant amounts of folic acid include beef, chicken, salmon, tuna, whole grains, split peas, lentils, green leafy vegetables, mushrooms, dates, and oranges.
