Thanksgiving Made Easy with 16 Paleo Recipes
Jenna M. • November 9, 2015

Thanksgiving is a time for giving thanks and, quite frankly, eating a ton of food.

While some people look forward to the holiday season, people like me tend to dread it because of how much delicious food there is, and it’s all hard to turn down.

Fortunately, my recent Whole30 journey has encouraged me to look for a healthier way to celebrate this somewhat food-based holiday.

This Thanksgiving, my family is having a paleo feast.

The paleo diet involves avoiding foods that your body could be allergic to and/or have trouble digesting, including dairy, grains, sugar, legumes, starches, additives and processed foods.

It may sound impossible to put together a delicious Thanksgiving feast without the use of these foods, but I assure you it’s possible.

I searched the internet to find some of the best paleo Thanksgiving recipes from various food bloggers.

Check out the recipes below to make your family an unforgettable paleo Thanksgiving meal. And don’t worry, all of the popular Thanksgiving dishes are present.

1Rosemary Apple Turkey – Amazing Paleo

Switch up the traditional turkey recipe with apples and rosemary. Buy an organic, free range turkey to do things right.

2Grain Free Homestyle Stuffing – Mommypotamus

Stuffing has turned into my favorite Thanksgiving dish, and this alternative is spectacular. No bread crumbs? No problem!

3Maple Cranberry Sauce – i heart eating

I honestly don’t know how normal cranberry sauce is made, but I wouldn’t do it any other way than this.

4Creamy Garlic Dairy Free Mashed Potatoes – Brooklyn Farm Girl

There’s some debate as to whether or not potatoes are paleo. They are now Whole30 approved, but they aren’t traditionally paleo approved. Use your best judgment, but I know my family is going to want the potatoes.

5Easy Mashed Cauliflower with Garlic – Paleo Grubs

For those staying away from potatoes, mashed cauliflower is the perfect alternative. Give it a try and see if your family members notice a difference.

6Gluten Free Gravy – Holistic Squid

Gravy is the dressing of Thanksgiving dinner. Add it to your turkey or potatoes, or just pour it over everything like some of my family members do. No shame!

7Paleo Sweet Potato Casserole – Cupcakes OMG

I used to dread sweet potatoes at Thanksgiving, but Whole30 has made me obsessed with them. This casserole is a great replacement if you don’t want mashed potatoes or cauliflower.

8Paleo Green Bean Casserole – Fed+Fit

Don’t forget the green bean casserole! Oh, I won’t. You’re going to love this one. Crispy and delicious!

9Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Bacon and Apples – Back to Her Roots

Brussels sprouts are another vegetable I learned to love during Whole30, and I couldn’t help but include it here. Add bacon and apples for extra flavor. You won’t regret it.

10Simple Roasted Carrots – Healy Eats Real

You can never go wrong with more vegetables. Roasted carrots are easy to put together, and they go great with stuffing.

11Paleo Coconut Curry Deviled Eggs – Delicious Paleo

I can justify making deviled eggs for any event. These bite-sized appetizers will keep everyone happy while they wait for the real food fest to begin.

12Grain Free Dinner Rolls – The Preppy Paleo

These may not be the dinner rolls you’re used to, but they’re just as satisfying. If you don’t get around to a roll by the end of the meal, save it for a turkey sandwich in the morning. I know I’m not the only person who does that.

13Coconut Flour Honey Biscuits – Crunchy Mama

Biscuits with honey? I’m in love. Add extra honey on top if you want a little extra sweetness.

14Paleo Pumpkin Pie – My Natural Family

This recipe is the perfect paleo alternative of my favorite pie. It’s a staple for Thanksgiving, and now it’s a staple for paleo Thanksgiving.

15No Bake Triple Chocolate Pumpkin Pie – Living Healthy with Chocolate

I couldn’t go an entire food post without chocolate, and I’m sure many of you are glad that I didn’t. Chocolate. Pumpkin. Pie. Imagine it. Make it. Eat it. Love it.

16Pecan Pie – The Paleo Mom

Despite what I want to believe, not everyone loves pumpkin pie. This pecan pie recipe is perfect for those who want something other than pumpkin.

Let me know in the comments if you have a favorite paleo Thanksgiving dish not mentioned above. Have a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!
