Rated 1 out of 5 by from Vitamin D drops This might be a good product but I can't figure out how to get out of the bottle without taking out the plastic insert out. Then, there is no way to get "drops" out. NEVER AGAIN

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this! I have been taking this for a few years now and I am impressed with how this works. I absorbs more readily into the system. Because it is liquid, you can put it into about anything. Better than pills!
Date published: 2014-12-07
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Chew-able tablets are better Be aware that this is oil and does not mix well. Better to drip it into your month. I would rather chew a pill!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Slow drops I like the product. It is a good way to get plenty of Vitamin D daily, which is extra important at my age (78). I quit using this product because the dropper is too slow and sometimes dropped on my face or blouse instead of under my tongue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from hate the dispenser Its a great product but they changed the bottle and I'm shaking and shaking trying to get a couple drops out. Hard to know how much is coming out. It used to have a dropper. Much harder to control the drops now.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Didn't buy it again...! I used to but I do NOT like that slow drop process, I do not have time to stand there and count! . Please put the eye dropper squeeze top back for us, as it looks as if I am not the only one that does not like that slow drip bottle. Thanks. I did just order another brand with an eye dropper..

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needs a Better Dropper I really like the idea of Vitamin D drops but was disappointed that this didn't come with a separate dropper (like an eye dropper). Instead there's a hole in the plastic top and the drops sort of fall out. Since the bottle is glass it's difficult to control when a drop will come out. The size of the drops are not consistent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from natural the purest vitamin D on the market. only olive oil and D3. great product for my son and for us too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We've Used This For Years The only vitamin D3 supplement we've every taken is this exact one. Our whole family uses it. The new improved dropper is perfect. Before you'd have the typical dropper but it got the oil everywhere. Now all you do it take the cap off, turn it upside down and it slowly drops out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This seems to be great product and is easy for me to use as I am using a feeding tube so this is a great value and easy to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice product I like tha I can take my vitamin D in drops. This assures me it is going straigt to my blood and being utilized. It's not always a guarantee in pill form.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good But Not easy to get drops out of container!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best way to get Vit D So easy--I put it into shakes or drinks and I'm done--lately, vit D is found to be very important for health--I take two dropper-fuls and I'm set for the day!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome!!! This product is the best! A lot of people complained about how it was hard to get out of the bottle. Its not, I take the bottle and hold it over a spoon and count the drops as they slowly, but perfectly drop into the spoon. I love that it is in Olive oil and NOT soybean oil.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Liquid D3 I had been using a liquid D from a local store, when I noticed this product in the catalog and decided to try it. My previous liquid came with a dropper, and was stored in the fridge. This product came with a plastic plug that was supposed to release a drop at a time, but which I couldn't figure out and couldn't make work. I solved the problem of the dispenser by removing the plastic plug and using an eye dropper to dispense. Keeping it in the fridge was a mistake, because it is in an olive oil base which solidified there and made dispensing difficult. Because of this dispensing difficulty, there was unintentional waste. I cannot speak to the quality or effectiveness.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product I love this form of Vitamin D-easy and effective. Swanson is indeed a great place to shop and the products are high quality.
Date published: 2013-05-26
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Vitamin D liquid drops I was very disappointed in these drops. Nothing would come out of the bottle, even with vigorous shaking! Since it needs to 'drop' onto the tongue, that made it ridiculous. I even tried to make the opening larger, but gave up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Olive oil is delicious Better to use a lower dose of D, even if yer loading, cawz a single drop of a hi dose can get "lost on the mix"--in your gut. So 400 units is a good place to start. The best carrier for an oil soluble stuff is medium chain triglycerides, which will not resist digestion as much as an oil will. But the olive oil in this product, unlike the first batch I bawt, is excellent. I called Swanson to find out what the oils is, assuming Swanson sells it, and got no help--as I expected : ) -- from the "product specialist". Not in love with the droperless dropper-bottle, thos this beats Carlson's D3 bottle which needed almost 10 seconds for the 1sr drop to drop.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I no longer use this product. I didn't mind the change in dropper style......or the change in flavor. They lowered the price too, and that was nice.....but now that the product is no longer effective, I felt I must look for a different brand of this vitamin. Buyer Beware.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent choice This easy to take Vitamin D3 product has enabled me to maintain my Vitamin D levels with no difficulty. I feel that it is an important supplement. Swanson has done it again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent source of D3 This is such an easy source of getting our daily dose of D3 that it surpasses buying any supplements. What makes it even more beneficial is that it is included as part of an olive oil mix. Now, having heard how retailers are cheating the consumers with fake oilive oils, I actually tested this and the results confirmed the olive oil is actually 100% olive oil. Very proud of Swanson for their integrity and for providing us with the best products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Direct Absorption of Vitamin D Vitamin D in olive oil is the only way to take this important hormone as it is directly absorbed into the bloodstream, just like the body does it when it produces it from the sun on your skin.
Date published: 2013-02-16
Rated 1 out of 5 by from I won't buy this again! In addition to the bad packaging that wastes plenty of drops (see my previous review), it now has an strong olive oil taste to it. It used to be tasteless. I will NOT be buying this product again, but will try another brand even if it is more expensive. I just do not like all the chages to this product!!! It is not longer a good value for the $$ at alll!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from They changed the formula - YUK! I prefer to take D-3 in liquid form, but the new formula tastes like olive oil. Okay on a salad - I guess. The previous formula had a pleasant taste of citrus. Also changed is the bottle. Ugh - The new dropper style does not easily dispense drops. Swanson - please revert back to the previous bottle and flavor. Thank you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple Ingredients and unique dropper bottle I really like this vitamin d3. It's effective for me especially since I can't take vitamins that have a lot of extra ingredients. Amazingly this vitamin d is in olive oil ONLY---and, oil enhances absorption. I've never used this type of dropper bottle before, I really like how slowly and exactly it measures the drops.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from vitamin D we've been counseled by our doctor that 4-5,000 IU's of vit D a day is a smart move.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from low D levels I've been taking this, and loving it for quite some time. I take 6 drops because I live in Oregon. However I just discovered my vitamin D3 levels are very low! I am very disappointed I'm switching to Nature's Way. There stuff is always good.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Idea, But... Even with supplements, I tend to be on the low side for vitamin D if I'm not careful. I feel so much better when I am getting adequate amounts that I thought I would try these drops, and if you consider the price, there was no way you could go wrong trying them. But...I really had a hard time getting the oil to come out. I finally held it upside down, shook vigorously over my palm, and waited for the drops to come. The other down side is that it is hard to gauge how many drops you are taking if you take the drops orally and straight into your mouth. I may keep using these since they probably obsorb better than pills, but they definitely are different than just popping your vitamin and going about your day.

Q: Why are some vitamin D products measured in IU while others are in mcg?

Due to changes in FDA labeling guidelines, vitamin D amounts must now be listed in micrograms (mcg) on supplement facts and nutrition labels instead of international units (IU). Although these new guidelines were issued in 2016, updates weren't required until June 2020.

At Swanson, we began updating our labels in early 2017. You will see a mixture of both IU and mcg as our national brand partners complete this process.

Q: Did my vitamin D supplement change?

A: You may have noticed a change in the daily value percentage on your favorite vitamin D product, but that doesn't mean your product changed. The FDA increased the recommended daily intake (RDA) of vitamin D, which means the same product with the same ingredient amounts fulfills a lower percentage of the RDA than it prior to the change.

Q: How much vitamin D do I need each day?

In 2016, the Food and Nutrition Board increased the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) of vitamin D for most adults from 10 mcg (400 IU) to 15 mcg (600 IU) per day, and 20 mcg (800 IU) for ages 70+.

Some doctors and nutritionists recommend higher daily vitamin D intakes, especially for those at risk for having low levels. The Vitamin D Council, an organization dedicated to raising awareness about vitamin D, recommends average adults supplement with 125 mcg (5,000 IU) of vitamin D daily. Talk with your doctor about your individual needs.
