Licorice is part of the legume family. The licorice plant flowers in midsummer and inside the flowers are small, one-celled pods containing one to six kidney-shaped seeds. However, it is the root of the plant that is used most often. Daily serving size: Pour 8-12 oz of boiling water (212° F) over 1-2 tsp. of tea. Steep 5-10 minutes.
