MAKE MY AWARD-WINNING OATMEAL AT HOME:
Bring water and salt to a boil. Add Steel Cut Oats, reduce heat to medium-low and cook, stirring occasionally, for 15-20 minutes (or longer for creamier oatmeal). Remove from heat and let stand for two minutes.
STEEL CUT OATS IN THE SLOW COOKER:
Combine 4 cups water, 1 cup oats and ½ tsp salt in a 4-6 quart slow cooker. Cover with lid and cook on low for 708 hours or overnight. Makes 4 servings.

Store in a cool, dry place. Keeps best refrigerated or frozen after opening.

Healthy Habit
Been ordering these steel cut oats from Swanson for some time now. We make up big batches with all sorts of fruit cooked into it, then freeze and pull out as needed. It freezes just fine and I believe is a very healthy habit for breakfast.Great service!

Just substitue a small amount (maybe 1/5) the wheat flour with Steel Cut Oats. It adds weight and a soft crunch to the texture. Less boring bake goods when you do! And oats are one of the healthiest grains in nature. Just google about oats in the diet to read how healthy oats are. Before baking/cooking Steel Cut Oats are very crunchy (like grapenuts cereal). They soften with baking/cooking. Still, the texture of the bread/cereal will be less soft and boring. Very nice!Love organic steel cut oats.
