Hemp: A World of Opportunities!

Hemp is certainly having its moment in the sun, and with good reason. It can be used in countless ways to promote overall wellbeing in your body, in your mind and in your home.

But if you’re not exactly sure where to start, the world of hemp products can be rather overwhelming. To get you started, we’ve highlighted eight easy ways to use this multifaceted plant every day of the week.

1. Add Hemp Hearts to Your Morning Breakfast Routine

Hemp hearts (shelled hemp seeds) are a powerful superfood worth keeping in your kitchen cabinet. They are packed with fiber, vitamins, calcium and iron.1

And because they have a 25% protein content and are considered a complete protein source, they also contain all of the nine essential amino acids your body needs to source from food.

Better yet, they are super easy to integrate into simple breakfast recipes. Just sprinkle a tablespoon or two in your yogurt with fruit, on top of your hot oatmeal or into your favorite smoothie blend!

You can also benefit from hemp’s laundry list of nutrition by using hemp milk to make your oatmeal or as the base of your smoothie in lieu of other dairy or nut milk. Hemp protein powder is also a popular plant-based alternative to whey that delivers similar health benefits.

2. Care for Your Hair with Hemp Oil Shampoo

Hemp oil is about to become your hair’s new best friend. Hemp oil is incredibly moisturizing to your hair and scalp, and because it’s so easily absorbed, your hair never looks greasy after using it.2

Because it helps protect your hair’s natural texture, hemp oil also prevents breakage. Finally, its bounty of omega fatty acids and protein supports healthy hair from the inside out.

Many hair care brands offer hemp shampoo products today, but we recommend reading the ingredient labels and selecting a shampoo without parabens and sulfates that is packed with 100% pure hemp oil.

3. Decorate Your Home with Fabrics Made From Hemp Fiber

You can easily add a touch of hemp to every room of your home—not just the kitchen pantry and bathroom cabinet—because the plant makes fantastic fabric. It’s natural, it’s durable, it’s biodegradable and it doesn’t fill your home with indoor air pollutants like synthetic fabrics can.3

Hemp rugs and runners can be a budget-friendly way to add a splash of color to your space, and they can stand up against dirty pets, rowdy kids, high foot traffic and inevitable spills.

The same goes for hemp throw pillows: they have a rich texture and are built to last. Some people even like to use hemp bedsheets in the warmer months because they can be both cooler and more resilient than traditional cotton.

4. Protect Your Skin From the Sun’s Harsh Rays with Hemp-Based SPF

Hemp has now reached the world of natural sun care due to its antioxidant properties and skin-soothing qualities.4 It’s also a perfect ingredient for lotion products because it absorbs quickly into the skin and doesn’t leave a greasy residue behind.6

So if you’re feeling curious, branch out a little bit this summer when shopping for a healthy sunscreen and look for one that lists 100% pure hemp oil on the ingredients label.

5. Throw a Hemp-Derived CBD Bath Bomb in the Tub and Enjoy a Soothing Soak

Is there any problem a relaxing soak in the tub can’t solve? It’s our favorite form of self-care on stressful days, and CBD hemp extracts can make this ritual even more therapeutic.

Many skin care brands now make bath bombs infused with CBD hemp extract that moisturize the skin effectively. Pair those benefits with steamy water and the colorful, effervescent reaction you get when you toss in the bath bomb, and you’re in for a real stress-reducing treat.

If you want to have even more fun, try whipping up a hemp-derived CBD bath bomb from scratch in your own kitchen! They’re surprisingly easy to create, and you can make an entire batch of them at once to save you both time and money down the road.

Hemp-Derived CBD Bath Bomb Recipe

Makes: 1 Bath Bomb
Prep time: 15 minutes
Set time: Overnight

For each bath bomb, you’ll need:

Instructions

  1. Combine baking soda, cornstarch, Epsom salts and citric acid in a big mixing bowl
  2. In a smaller bowl, combine the CBD hemp extract oil, essential oil and water
  3. Slowly incorporate your wet ingredients into your dry ingredients with a whisk
  4. Fill two sides of a spherical mold with the mixture, packing it tightly so it sets well, and then press the mold closed
  5. Let it set overnight and then carefully pop the bath bomb out of the mold and get excited for your next soak!

6. Massage Hemp-Derived CBD Balm into Tired Muscles and Joints

When a tough workout or just a long day on your feet gets the best of you, reach for some CBD hemp extract balm for overall wellbeing. The massaging action, moisturizing oils and overall wellness-promoting botanicals can bring much-needed comfort to overworked muscles and joints.

We love balms that integrate aromatherapeutic oils as well because of the olfactory relaxation benefits they provide.5 Simply scoop out a dime-sized portion and work it gently into the area asking for a little TLC.

7. Moisturize Dry Skin with Pure Hemp Oil

Too much summer sun and swimming fun can leave your skin just as dry, itchy and agitated as winter winds and frigid temperatures. So keep a hemp lotion loaded with 100% pure hemp oil on hand all year round for instant hydration.

The oil naturally conditions and moisturizes your skin, and it absorbs quickly so no greasy residue is left behind. It’s a great pick for sensitive skin types as well. Just make sure to read those ingredient labels again, looking out for parabens and phthalates.

8. Try Hemp-Derived CBD Oil Before Bed

Over the past few years, CBD hemp extract oils and tinctures have become increasingly popular among people looking for ways to promote their overall wellbeing. These products contain less than .3% THC, so you don’t have to worry about any psychoactive response, and many formulas are vegan, gluten-free and void of artificial ingredients.

Simply take some and settle in for a relaxing night. Add a little soft lighting, a mug of herbal tea and a good book to the mix, and you’re bound to rest easy in no time!
