Rated 3 out of 5 by kreleia Good product that wants to be great
This is a good product, but it needs a bit of work to be a great product. I was happy with the price and convenience of the packaging, but there are several factors that made this one hard to love.
First, the grind of the powder is too coarse. I use a ceramic mug at work the majority of the time for my vitamin supplements, and this never fully dissolves. It leaves small dark grey bits at the bottom, and very coarse residue sticking to the sides that has the same texture as sandpaper if it happens to dry. I can't be sure that I'm getting all of the benefits of this powder if so much is being left behind - even with constant stirring.
Second, something in the powder mixture has an oily residue. I'm not sure if it's from whatever is used for the color (which is completely unnecessary), or if there's something else that does this. Once water is added to this, the residue clings to whatever I'm using to stir it. It doesn't stick to the sides of the mug, but I've tried plastic knives, wooden stir-sticks, and metal silverware - all of them have a sticky, oily residue on them afterwards.
Things I liked: I really like the tangerine flavor. It's different enough from the major brands, and slightly stronger so that it doesn't really get weak unless you absolutely have to mix it into a giant bottle of water. The price is also much more reasonable, and the packaging is perfect. Unfortunately, neither of these factors could overcome the two major sticking-points for me. I really do like this product, but it's not the same quality and value that I've come to expect from Swanson with their other supplements. This could absolutely be a great product with some improvements. But for now I'm going to stick with the name-brands.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Gemmm Better Product at Lower Cost!
Because of the ever increasing cost of Alacer Emergen-C drinks, I went to Swanson for an alternative. The Swanson brand Energy C with Electrolytes not only cost less, but featured a better vitamin C delivery system and additional nutrients. I trust Swanson for better, lower cost versions of national brand products.

These packets from Swanson are of great quality and taste very good. They are a great alternative to higher priced brands that have artificial ingredients and added sugar.

After many years of using it, I will never buy the other brand again- these are perfect! Vitamin C- no artificial sweeteners or sugar, only stevia. Lots of other good vitamins added in for good measure. Please, please Swanson, don't ever stop making these. My whole family uses them- we're hooked!

the artificial sweetner makes this product undrinkable. it also foams up and tastes even worse if it gets too warm. not recomended. emergen c is the best product i have used so far.

As a serious and avid cyclist, this has become my go-to electrolyte mix. Most commercial products are loaded with sugars, which needlessly spike blood glucose levels instead of keeping levels constant for optimum performance without glucose crashes -- especially during endurance events.
If you properly manage the balance between carbs and fats in your diet for energy output, the glucose spikes offered by typical electrolyte drinks are unnecessary and this is why I use Swanson's Ultra - because it effectively replenishes electrolytes without the deleterious effects of adding tons of sugar. I also find the orange flavor relatively palatable compared to other similar products.
The Stevia sugar substitute for which some reviewers have expressed concern is NOT an artificial sweetener (on par with Aspartame or Splenda) as a few have claimed. It is a natural plant substance extracted from the leaves of Stevia rebaudiana. It can have up to 150 times the sweetness of sugar, but does not raise blood glucose levels. Some studies, however, indicate that it can possibly cause an insulin response, speculatively based on the brain's perception of it as a sweet substance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BabsM Better than Emergencee.
I was so excited to find these! They taste much better than another popular brand and are sweetened with stevia instead of all that sugar. It's a little difficult to get all the powder to dissolve but, since it tastes so good I don't mind swallowing it anyway.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Bamboozle Way too much sweeteners
While I appreciate the narrow packaging (stick packets) which makes it convenient to pour the powder into narrow-necked bottles (particularly useful while traveling), I would NOT recommend this product simply because it has way too much sweeteners in it. All the healthy elements like the electrolytes, vitamins, minerals, etc. have less effectiveness while your body has the fight the effects of all that surplus glucose.
Plus the product label doesn't even bother to list the amount of or percentage of sweetener (mainly stevia) they use. It's just listed as one of their 'other ingredients'.
Anyways, it just tastes way too sweet. Obnoxiously so.

You know you're getting a good electrolyte drink when the B12 is from methylcobalamin. This is the B12 that the body can assimulate. I have tried many electrolyte drinks in the past and all of them have cyanocobalamin which contains a cyanide molecule. Cyanocobalamin is chemically synthesized. It is very cheap where as the methylcobalamin is more expense.
I wish there were more flavors though. I do like the orange but I like to mix it up.
I would highly recommend this product. Swansons integrity is commendable.

Regardless of whether or not you love the taste, these are great to take each day - especially during hot months when we sweat and can lose important minerals like magnesium. It's the simplest way to ensure you've replenished vitamins and minerals.
I sweat a lot during runs and so I always add one of these packets to my water or sports drink. I've even added them to lemonade and O.J.
I find the orange flavor slightly tangy but I enjoy that.

Rated 1 out of 5 by memcan Would not ever purchase again
Bought this because I drink a lot of water and wanted to ensure my electrolytes were not too low. This product does not dissolve very well and the flavor is horrible.
Would be better with no flavor or color. Very dissatisfied and actually had to purchase an water flavoring product to drink it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Merry14 I have to restrict sugar intake, so I was happy to see this product. I was missing Emergen C. This doesn't dissolve quite as well, but I am overall satisfied with it. It doesn't leave an aftertaste and I am really glad it is available. Thanks, Swanson.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Veggielover2 Works, a bit hard to get down
I bought this for a mid-day pick me up. I liked that it was sugar-free and orange flavor... however I think they aded a bit too much citric acid since its a bit sour for me. But it works so thats what counts! I find its more enjoyable with less water, contrary to what I would have thought.

Great product and much less sugary taste than the EmergenC. However, why the heck did you guys put the orange coloring in there? That stuff sticks to the walls of my glass and is hard to clean off. There is absolutely zero need for a colorant to make this look like orange juice. It is NOT orange juice, so it does not need to look orange. Please keep the products PURE. No additives please.
