  • Natural alternative to artificial sweeteners

  • Made from Monk Fruit, a traditional Chinese fruit

  • Calorie-free non-artificial sweet alternative

Swanson PureLo Lo Han sweetener is an excellent alternative to artificial sweeteners. This concentrated extract from Lo Han (the traditional Chinese fruit also known as Monk Fruit) has found its way out of the Asian markets and into the mainstream as a calorie-free way to sweeten. It's perfect for coffee and tea and can even be used for cooking and baking. But beware: Lo Han can be up to 200 times sweeter than sugar. We've tempered the natural sweetness a bit by blending PureLo with natural inulin so it's ready to use in recipes or at the table.

Note: Lo Han dissolves best when mixed into room temperature liquids. If you wish to sweeten a cold drink like iced tea, mix at room temperature and chill for best results.

Nightmare The taste was great. I have an allergy to aspartame and thought this would be a good substitute. Unfortunately, I developed a debilitating headache after using it for several weeks. Since I quit using it the headaches are slowly subsiding. Seems others have had the same negative experience. Wish I had done more research before starting Lo Han Sweetener. This was a horrible experience and I cannot recommend it . May 10, 2014
Stomach Cramps. I was excited to try this as I have tried EVERY "safe" new sweetener that comes out to cut down my sugar consumption. I only use a lot of suagr in my coffee and teas, but I drink about 3-4 cups /day. First off this is excellent value as I compared the same quantity at other places and it was almost twice what Swanson's was selling it for. 2). It is easy to take and convenient- container can easily be taken in my handbag to the office or a scoupful in a zipbag to the gym. Now the bad- I took about 1/4 of a teaspoon and stirred it in a cup of coffee and it was SWEET!!!. I don't know about anyone else but this DID NOT taste like SUGAR. It tasted like all the artificial stuff I have tried, The worse part wa sthe abdominal cramps and the bloating. I was up till late swallowing charcoal tabs and drinking hot tea w/out sugar of any kind to relieve the pressure in my stomach. Definitely do not recommend this product. Maybe it was just me, as others seemed to like it which was my reason for buying it. Returned it. April 8, 2014
Best Purchase Ever Great product for someone who wants restrict your sugar intake. It tastes good and reacts well in hot or cold drinks or food. Try it you'll like it! January 20, 2014
Good sweetener, but doesn't work for everything I've used this in various recipes and I noticed that it works well when combined with another sweetener. Also, because of the other ingredient in this sweetener, it tends to be a bit chalky in some recipes. January 8, 2014
Promising, but not quite there yet I mix this product with Splenda 50/50 to help with the clumping, to reach a higher level of sweetness, & to bring the $$price down. I'm still looking for the perfect sweetener. This is not it, but it's the best I've found so far. I'm trying to avoid artificial sweeteners altogether, but still need Splenda to make this product work. Swansons - please keep working on this product. LoHan has such potential - it just isn't ready for prime time; however, I still recommend it since there isn't anything better. Pros: sweet enough & less expensive than other outlets Con: very lumpy/clumpy, still very expensive September 29, 2013
Best purchase ever I love the way Lo Han sweetens tea, protein shakes and even cookies. It has no aftertaste and even my husband in unaware of my "secret ingredient" thinking it is sugar:) August 8, 2013
Strong unpleasant aftertaste I was disappointed because other reviewers didn't experience much of an aftertaste from this monk fruit extract product, but I did. I guess my tongue is extra sensitive, but for me, the bitter aftertaste makes Lo Han a poor substitute for sugar or artificial sweeteners like sucralose or aspartame. It's even worse than stevia. July 26, 2013
monk fruit I have been using stevia for years and switched to the monk fruit. It has a nice sweet taste without any aftertaste or bitterness. I tried a different brand and it wasn't as good as this one July 3, 2013
Great product! I was so happy to see that Swanson has now offered a larger version of this product as I use quite a bit of it. Usually, I flavor my greek yogurt with it and there are no calories to worry about. Plus, even though I do not remember why, I do remember that Lo Han is a very healthy sweetener. April 4, 2013
Good Sweetner Lo Han is a very good sweetener. I have used Stevia for years. I like Lo Han, monk fruit, but I prefer Stevia. If you are using this for the JJ Virgin way to health I think you will like it. It does take some adjustment for the sweet tooth freak, as I am. You have to experiment to find out how much to use for various drinks and foods. Try it! March 14, 2013
Wonderful sweetener alternative I follow the JJ Virgin diet and have eliminated sugar from my diet. I am always on the lookout for a great sweetener alternative. This one is great. It is powder so it mixes well in liquids. However, it is very sweet. So be careful not to overdue it when using it. I wish that it was easier to find this product. I've never seen it sold in the stores. This is the best site to find monk fruit with no other fillers. March 14, 2013
noit happy i tried pure lo han sweetner i found it to leave a funny after taste in my mouth and made my coffee taste strange . im glad i tried it but would not use it again March 10, 2013
Swanson Premium PureLo Lo Han Sweetener (Monk Frui Did not care for the product at all. In fact, I threw it out. It had an after taste, was very sweet and turned into one solid mass when I tried to sweeten hot oatmeal. March 7, 2013
a disappointing product With all of the hype this product has received it is a disappointing alternative to stevia. it is not 10X sweeter than sugar and although it may be a healthy alternative, it does not have satisfactory taste, very disappointing! March 7, 2013
Didn't care for it. I've had other Lo Han before, but this one doesn't taste good to me. Maybe it's just a personal preference. March 5, 2013
One of the best This is a terrific sweetener. It is used by some of ur better companies in there shakes. Makes things sweet and a added benefit it has insulin which is a great prebiotic February 23, 2013
No tinny aftertaste, perfect replacement for sugar and aspartame and safe too. February 16, 2013
Great product at great price This is the first time I have tried (or found) pure Lo Han. I've been off sugar for several years now and am very happy to find alternatives to artificial sweeteners that don't have the odd aftertaste that Stevia has. Lo Han and (birch) Xylitol fit all of my needs. I use Xylitol for coffee due to the brown sugar/earthy taste of Lo Han, but I can use it in everything else. I rated it a "4" for convenience. While the small container is portable without all the packaging of packets to toss into landfill, it isn't something you can tuck in a pocket when out for dinner. January 28, 2013
Virgin Diet Approved I have started the Virgin Diet (which is amazing) and this product was specifically mentioned as an healthy, all natural sweetener. I am sold! January 1, 2013
Great Sweetener This product has very little to no after taste. I use it in smoothies and anything else that needs sweetening. It's a great product. September 4, 2012
sweetner Not quite as sweet as I had heard. Disappointing as a sweetner. June 3, 2012
What a Joke! This stuff is highly diluted with inulin. lo han is extremely sweet, but this stuff is so diluted, you have to pour a ton into your drink to get any sweetness out of it. It does come with a Huge scoop, how nice of them! May 2, 2012
Great product Really like this product. Just a little will sweeten your tea or sprinkle on your cereal. Container will last a long time. April 18, 2012
Natural Sweetner I am allergic to stevia so this stuff is a God-send. It is perfectly "sweet". The only downside is the high price. April 18, 2012
Lo Han This is the best tasting sweatener that I've ever used.. Tastes just like sugar, with no bitter after taste. It works well in receipes also, and best of all it is safe and natural. I recomend it to everyone! March 13, 2012
