Digestive Enzyme
I have been using SPDE for three years. I don't go anywhere without them. If I have a heavy meal planned, I use them in combo with one Diet Duo to break down a combination of foods, proteins and starches. I take one before I begin a meal and another during. I am very pleased with them. They are part of my daily routine every day.

NICE LITTLE TABLET
Swanson did a good thing coming up with this nice little tablet. It is a mild formula in a small, easy-to-swallw tablet. That makes it perfect for a great variety of people of all ages. People need to realize that everyone's digestive system performs at its own level, some really well, and some not vey well, thus needing help. For example, I take one of these tablets with each of my Super Vege Cocktails that I use to wash down my tablets and capsules three times a day for my comprehensive nutritional program. I also may take 1 or 2 or 3 with a meal, depending on what and how much I am eating. One tablet cannot be expected to handle all types and quantities of foods for all people, because every aspect of the equation is different --- different people, different foods in different amounts, different situations going on in the individual's life, etc.. Also, this nice, mild little formula contains only 5 mg. of Betaine HCl and no Pepsin. Those are the digestive enzymes that work on protein foods of all types, both animal and vegetable proteins, in the stomach. So, if you are using this product and eating proteins --- meats, nuts, eggs, dairy, beans, etc. --- understand that the principal protein digestors will need to be taken also. Swanson has a very good Betaine HCl with Pepsin capsule at their usual low price. One should consider taking one of those Betaine HCl with Pepsin capsules along with 1 or more of this very nice and effective --- for everything else --- Digestive Enzyme tablet.
I have used and recommended Digestive Enzyme products for 50 years, and I am so impressed with this particular tablet from Swanson that I recommend it to friends and relatives AND I take it myself, along with 3 other Enzyme products that I buy from Swanson. Understand that Digestive Enzymes are not a 1 size fits all proposition. EVERYONE will notice improved digestion, leaving their stomach and abdomen feeling much better - - - as well as utilizing the nutrients they are consuming more efficiently and effectively - - - if they take the right amounts of the right enzymes. You can easily determine this for youself by how you feel after you eat and after you take the right enzymes in the right amounts for you. You'll know, just as I do.

I Love Swanson's Premium Digestive Enzymes!
Swanson's Premium Digestive Enzymes are great!
I am happy with the results of using the enzymes for about 2 weeks. Will be ordering again. Not many enzymes have the Ox Bile added. I believe this is beneficial for most people.

I try to eat healthy foods that are compatible with my system. However, when I go out to eat, the foods don't always agree with me - too greasy, too sweet, too starchy, too much preservatives and flavor enhancers... But I am happy to say that Swanson's Digestive Enzymes helps my system and I always take one with me when I eat out.

Great Product

Makes all the difference
Even though I have always had excellent digestion, the older I get I find that the assist at meal times with digestive enzymes is noticeable. Swanson's Premium Digestive Enzymes are an excellent product at a very reasonable price compared to other product lines. Highly recommend.

Does the job, just not hypo-allergenic
I couldn't take this product more than a few days because I'm easily susceptible to acne and this has barley. It's the first time I've seen an enzyme product that makes me break out in acne. Otherwise it seems to do the job. Good price.

A DAILY MUST!
Great for the digestive system, priced excellent, and works as good as the high priced enzymes that you see in retail stores or on the info commericals. Try them and be consistent with your daily dose and you will see the results.

Not For Me
I have tried this product two different times for a day or two each separate time, but WILL NOT try again. Each time it gave me excessive, very painful gas. Since I do have digestive problems and after several months, I thought I would try these enzymes one more time. This was a bad decision! I have almost exploded from gas and only after one tablet last night, and two tablets so far today. I could never recommend this to anyone even though I can see there are many satisfied users on this site.

Waste of money
Not only will they be inactivated by the acid pH of your stomach (although it may be temporary as the pH will change again in subsequent parts of your digestive tract), an enzyme in your stomach, pepsin, will start to chop apart protein. Most enzymes, including digestive enzymes, are made out of proteins. So in essence, the digestive enzymes you just consumed will be chopped up before they go the next part of the digestive tract.
You also already make most of the digestive enzymes and secrete these in particular locations (saliva contains amylase, stomach has pepsin, pancreas secretes many other enzymes such as lipase, proteases, etc. You already make these substances.
One more thing - think of a digestive enzyme like a pair of scissors. It does the same thing over and over and over again. Can't imagine why you would want to add 'extras'.

Tablet not as easy to swallow
I use my mortar and pestal to grind the tablet and put in morning smoothy. Also sprinkle on organic burgers for my dog. Capsuls are more convenient.

Good stuff.
My Dr. said take digestive enzymes. I faxed him three choices to see which he recommended using ONLY the ingredient label of three different brands. (No brand names, no prices in the fax). He picked Swanson's! I was so happy because they were the best choice for me and most affordable.

IT"S NOT GLUTEN FREE
For those of you who are avoiding gluten, this
is not gluten free. The ingredient barley malt
contains gluten. I like Swanson's products a lot,
but I do wish that they would remove the gluten from this. That way, a lot of people could use
it who can't at this time.

SWANSON Digestive Enzymes
WOW!! I was pleasantly surprised that I really like the way these work! To be honest, I really wasn't expecting them to be very good because they are a tablet and their cost was so low compared to other digestive enzymes, BUT my husband & I had been taking Source Naturals Daily Essential Enzymes caps for quite a number of months and weren't getting as good of results as I thought we should,so I decided to try these. With the very first use, we both thought we experienced a noticeable improvement! My husband only has to take 1 at each of lunch & dinner, and I take 1-2 at lunch and 2-3 at dinner, depending on how heavy the meals are. (None at breakfast, because I always have a whey shake.) My digestion is much weaker than my husband's, so I have to take more enzymes, plus HCL in addition. I'm sure that there are some formulations out there that are stronger and work even better, but for the low cost and good formulation of these, this product will work just fine!

It really works!
I will not ever go a day without these wonderful digestive enzymes! They really work in breaking down the foods. It worked the very first day I used them! I know my system loves it. I even told a friend about it. They tried it for a week and wanted the website address so they could put in their own order.

If it works why change . . . . .
So I have been taking Swanson Digestive Enzymes for at least the last year. I started taking 2 per meal and decided to try another brand/dosage . . . . well that was a bad idea.
Seems my body works better using the Swanson product - great stuff, won't change again.
I am 47 and eating healthier requires more digestive enzymes . . . .
