Pea Protein - Unflavored 4.4 5 92 96
Easy protein souce As a vegetarian, I need all the good protein sources I can get, but I hate whey powder. This pea powder is a mild-tasting, easy to use substance. June 13, 2013
Pretty Great Protein I used this protein as a shake every morning and the taste is okay. It has definitely been one I had to get used to. However, add some fruit/veggies to it and it masks the actually pea protein very well. June 4, 2013
Don't believe the hype! I know that pea protein is supposed to be a very good form of protein, but I am not a bodybuilder or a huge fitness nut, I drink protein shakes more as meal replacements when I am too busy or too lazy to cook- I'd rather make a nutritious drink than eat junk. This stuff tastes nasty! Pea sounds like it would be a mellow or a bit sweet, but this is very bitter and chalky and did not mix up at all in a shaker cup- I had to blend it. I usually don't use much sweetener, mostly almond milk, yogurt and fruit, but I had to break out the steevia to cover the bitterness. I'll give it a few more tries and hope it grows on me, but I think I'll stick with whey protein- the taste and texture of this is too hardcore for me. May 30, 2013
Great part of diet, but Not a complete protein Nutrition: Not a complete protein, close, but technically no. It is low in methionine+cysteine by a hair. It would be wise to mix it with a complementary protein, such as hemp seed protein powder, which is low in lysine but high in methionine. The perfect complement. Flavor: Many people have complained about the flavor and texture. They have no basis for their complaints because all the powders are pretty bad. I mix them in one of those new mixer cups with coconut milk and maple syrup and a liquid vitamin. Tastes great. And it's a great source of very available protein. AND contains 35% of RDA iron. Always welcome in a vegan diet. May 26, 2013
Inexpensive Super Protein Excellent non-GMO protein source perfect for anyone seeking a non-dairy/egg/soy supplement. Neutral taste mixes great with other ingredients. May 24, 2013
Good product. I am trying to get away from whey protein since it is animal and stick with vegetables and fruits for breakfast as a source for protein. This product is just what I was looking for. May 16, 2013
Protein Powder Supplement Best price for protein supplement. Plus, I learned at Swanson's site about Pea Protein Powder for the first time. Excellent for those not wanting whey or soy derived powder. dredyoung May 13, 2013
Still the Best Value It's too bad the manufacturer changed their formula and, in the process, lowered the protein count. But this is still the most protein you get for your dollars spent (at least compared to the other non soy-based protein powders on this site). After adopting a mostly vegetarian diet, I've had problems maintaining adequate protein levels. I began using this product and have since brought them back up to normal. May 11, 2013
Decent pea protein This is ok in green smoothies... Good texture but so so in taste.... Doesnt add flavor other than pea. I use this mostly for cooking pancakes and works well. May 10, 2013
Good protein product I put this in a shake every day and love it. I mix this with either frozen spinach or kale, 2 tablespoons of flax meal, egg yolks, Greek yogurt. Make sure to use enough water, it can be gritty if too thick. Has a solid BCAA profile, especially when mixed with yogurt (animal protein source). Good value for a month supply. May 8, 2013
High sodium One serving is far too high in sodium at 330 mg. May 1, 2013
Best Vegan Protein I have a lot of dietary restrictions, so neither animal based nor soy based proteins are options for me. I have tried tons of other proteins, and for the money this is the best by far. Plus it has no added sweeteners which is a must for me. I drink four of these per day with water alone and though very earthy, the taste is totally palatable and, though I know this is a dissenting opinion for sure, enjoyable. *As of writing the nutrition facts on this website are incorrect for this product. It now only has 24g of protein per serving. I inquired with NOW about the change, and they say it is a result of them "upgrading to a better source".* April 30, 2013
Horrible Taste After Formula Change In Febuary I have been using NOW Foods Pea Protein Powder since November, 2010 and the taste was just fine until my last order, March, 2013. The texture is different, it doesn't mix as well and the taste is horrible. A NOW Foods representative informed me that they had changed their formula and switched to a new supplier and had no plans to change back even though complaints about the bad taste had already started pouring in. If you somehow manage to gag down a full serving (33grams), check the "new" label and notice that you get 4 grams LESS protein than before; 24 grams VS 28 grams. This is my 1st ever return to Swanson. I decided to try the Swanson Pea Protein - 100% Pure and it tastes better than the old NOW Foods product did. I really hope Swanson doesn't decide to change their product or switch to another supplier! April 27, 2013
Great deal Pea protein is a great product at a very reasonable price. April 23, 2013
Great protein powder, nice taste I really enjoy this powder. I find many powders to be too "fake" tasting, but this thickened my drinks nicely and I didn't mind the pea taste. It is much better IMO than the fake taste of other drinks. April 21, 2013
Love this protein powder We have tried just about every kind of protein powder and this one is awesome. It has a great flavor, mixes well and has all of the ingredients you want/need in a protein supplement. April 19, 2013
first purchase and pleased i was glad to find out that not only did this company have a product that so few others carry, but the service was good to. this product was exactly what i was looking for and tastes like pea soup - without the delicious salt and ham flavors! (i still like it, other people want to put a sweetener in it.) April 18, 2013
This is the most highly recommended form of vegetable protein available. It has a nice slow adsorption. It makes a perfect addition to morning oatmeal, because it modulates the carbohydrate spike from the oatmeal and kills that mid-morning hunger . Highly recommended. Try it. April 14, 2013
What happened?!? I used to love the NOW pea protein, but they recently changed sources and it does not taste the same. I actually enjoyed the pea taste that it used to have. The flavor is now completely different and it ruins the flavor of anything I mix it with. Very disappointed! March 14, 2013
another great product The best thing for all flavors of smoothies. March 12, 2013
Great product for those with allergies I started using pea protein to supplement my diet after eliminating soy, corn, peanuts and milk from my diet for allergy testing. I actually prefer the convenience and taste of the pea protein over other protein powders. It is very easy to mix this into a smoothie or hot oatmeal. Some may not care for the slight pea taste to this powder at first. How does it perform? I have done quite well on this product while building muscle/reducing body fat. In 8 weeks (combined with exercise regime) I lost 3" around my hips/tummy and 1" on my thighs. My muscle tone is much improved. March 5, 2013
Does the job! This is one of the best prices for this product. I purchased it after reading about JJ Virgin's plant-based protein powder. I mix 4oz. coconut milk, 4-6 oz. water, 1 scoop of powdered greens, and 1 scoop of this pea protein. I blend it up and drink it in the car on the way to work. Yes, it's peas. No, it's not tasty but it's tolerable especially when you know it's so healthy for you. I'm sure I could flavor it with berries or something, but I don't have time nor do I care. It keeps me full and full of energy until lunchtime. LOVE this stuff! March 3, 2013
Great source of protein I add a scoop to my breakfast smoothie. Dissolves quickly. I will even add a scoop to split pea soup to up the protein content. Highly recommend. February 28, 2013
Greater than Expectations! A few days after Thanksgiving, I started losing weight, from 205, on purpose. I was tired of carrying around 5 bags of 5 pound sugar. I started using the pea protein after investigating the most effective and the most economical smoothie additive. I found it and I have bought six tubs since. I reached 176.I am on my new goal to get to 165 lbs. New Energy! Weight Loss through diet change alone.! This is from a coach who only believed in exercise ! What a difference! February 26, 2013
Pea Protein I am amazed at the energy my husband awakes with, due to the uses of this product each morning. I am so very grateful that it is affordable! Our budget is really tight. This produce is a wonderful source of protein and great in our morning smoothies! Thank you Swanson! Sincerely Thankful8 February 25, 2013
