Tips For Using Coconut Flour

•You can replace up to 20 % of the flour called for in a recipe with Coconut Flour, adding an equivalent amount of additional liquid to the recipe.

•If batter seems too thick, thin out by adding a bit more oil until desired consistency is achieved, if batter seems too runny, don't worry. Coconut Flour's high fiber content makes it very absorbent. During baking, the coconut will absorb much of the liquid.

•To maintain freshness, store Coconut Flour in an airtight container after opening package.

Best Bob's coconut flour is high in protien and fiber and taste is pleasing. I use it in smoothies and baking. It is a dryer more dense flour so have to be careful on your amounts as it does soak up more moisture. And the gluten free aspect is tops! December 27, 2012
Something Completely Different!! I got this as an alternative to wheat flour, and was surprised to find it takes a lot of adjusting of my old recipes to use it. Coconut flour clearly has far more fiber than wheat flour, and needs much more liquid. If you're a coconut rookie like I am, it's a good idea to get a proven recipe before baking with it, although if you love to experiment, you could come up with some wonderful results. Although different from the flavor of wheat, it tastes fine in everything I've made, so far--not strange or unpleasant at all. This brand of coconut flour is very fresh, with no hint of rancidity, as in some other brands. As I find more recipes to try, I think I'm really going to love using it. December 17, 2012

A new world of baking I have recently made a lifestyle change to a diet with fats consisting mostly of medium chain fatty acids, and am using any and all (unsweetened) coconut products I can. I bought Dr. Fife's coconut cookbooks and have made several dishes and baked goods with this product. I have been pleased with all uses of this flour so far. It is not an across the board substitute for wheat flour - you need to start with recipes that have been engineered to use it - but it works quite well. I'm so pleased it's organic also.
