True Cinnamon
Also known as: Cinnamomum verum, Ceylon Cinnamon
Cinnamomum verum, also called Ceylon cinnamon, comes from a small evergreen tree native to Sri Lanka. The bark of the tree is harvested and dried by hand in order to produce sticks of cinnamom that are then broken into smaller pieces and ground for use as a spice. While it shares many of the health-promoting qualities indicated by its cousin – cassia – ceylon – or true – cinnamon contains no coumarin , which can affect liver function.
