Niacin, or vitamin B-3, is involved in the production of many stress-related hormones and may promote heart health and healthy circulation. Like the other B-complex vitamins, niacin is essential for supporting healthy energy levels. Foods that contain tryptophan may also be a source of niacin because the body converts the amino acid tryptophan into niacin.
