I have tried Monk Fruit sweetener in packets from the health food store, and I liked it, so I tried this canister for a better buy. It seems that I have to use a lot to taste it, perhaps it's made this way, but I hoped it'd be sweeter... I haven't used a measuring spoon, but I have to use a lot more than I expected in my smoothies.

This is excellent. It is sweet with no after taste and tastes like sugar. A quarter teaspoon is about the same sweetness as a couple teaspoons of sugar.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Zaph May cause gas/bloating
Was great for it's sweetening ability and low calories, but.. Better value than what you find for Monk fruit in the supermarket.
I was taking it for a while before I realized that it was causing me gas/bloating issues. Got especially bad / noticeable when I started using it more.

I use Lo Han in my coffee and tea to give it just the added sweetness I like. It does not have the bitterness of stevia which I used to use and I appreciate that it is a safe and natural no cal sweetener.

Lo Han works well with carob and milk or almond milk in a blender. I add strawberries for a change-of-pace-smoothie. Product has inulin which is no problem, although some people could experience gas/bloating if sensitive. It does clump in some instances, but I think that is the inulin filler. Am ordering my fifth tub.

I have been ordering and using Monk Fruit for over a year now. I am allergic to steveia and do not like other sugar alternatives, taste is usually bitter.
Monk Fruit is sweet enough, I have gone off all other sugars. I feel so much better.
I use it in place of all sugar in recipes. About 3 teaspoons equals one cup for me it works.
Try it your taste buds will adjust to less sweetness.

Rated 5 out of 5 by HealthCrazyMom Great natural no calorie sweetener
My family loves this, and so glad to find it without the added sugar alcohols like the ones you find in the stores. We use it to sweeten coffee and GF baked goods and smoothies if the berries get too tart.

Rated 5 out of 5 by aaylnx Use This in The Right Way
Some people claim that this product is not very sweet. Well . . . .that's kind of true. It is not nearly as sweet as Stevia. However, if you use it in the right way, it's a good option on the shelf. Remember, if you're trying to stay clear of sugar, you don't have many alternatives. I've tried erythritol and it doesn't sit well with my stomach. Stevia works well for some things. For example, if I make a smoothie in my blender with fruit that definitly needs sweetening (lemons, cranberries, rubarb, or even raspberries), stevia works great (Now organic is very good). However, if you try to use stevia to sweeten anything with chocolate or cocoa, it tastes terrible. Don't ask me why, but somehow stevia does not combine well with chocolate. If you want a lightly sweetened chocolate/cocoa mixture though, Monk Fruit / Lo Han works nicely. So the key is to use this sweetener in the right way.

This has worked well to help reduce other sweeteners. Will be trying different ways to use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SilverSage WAY Better Than Other Natural Sweeteners
Monk fruit is way better than other natural root or herbal sweeteners on the market without any aftertaste and it actually sweetens and tastes good without using very much. Replaces HORRIBLE artificial sweeteners that destroy your brain and health in general....

Rated 5 out of 5 by Boomer52 Very effective and pleasant sugar substitute
Really like using this pure monk fruit instead of sugar. We use this for our coffee drinks, as my goal was to eliminate anything in our drinks that would spike the insulin. It mixes in well in hot liquid, not as easily in cold. Using a whip helps it dissolve in cold liquid. For us, it is very much like regular sugar in its result. It is expensive but goes a long way, and having the best price here really helps!

The taste was great. I have an allergy to aspartame and thought this would be a good substitute. Unfortunately, I developed a debilitating headache after using it for several weeks. Since I quit using it the headaches are slowly subsiding. Seems others have had the same negative experience. Wish I had done more research before starting Lo Han Sweetener. This was a horrible experience and I cannot recommend it .

I was excited to try this as I have tried EVERY "safe" new sweetener that comes out to cut down my sugar consumption. I only use a lot of suagr in my coffee and teas, but I drink about 3-4 cups /day. First off this is excellent value as I compared the same quantity at other places and it was almost twice what Swanson's was selling it for. 2). It is easy to take and convenient- container can easily be taken in my handbag to the office or a scoupful in a zipbag to the gym. Now the bad- I took about 1/4 of a teaspoon and stirred it in a cup of coffee and it was SWEET!!!. I don't know about anyone else but this DID NOT taste like SUGAR. It tasted like all the artificial stuff I have tried, The worse part wa sthe abdominal cramps and the bloating. I was up till late swallowing charcoal tabs and drinking hot tea w/out sugar of any kind to relieve the pressure in my stomach. Definitely do not recommend this product. Maybe it was just me, as others seemed to like it which was my reason for buying it. Returned it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Indoorgurl Good sweetener, but doesn't work for everything
I've used this in various recipes and I noticed that it works well when combined with another sweetener. Also, because of the other ingredient in this sweetener, it tends to be a bit chalky in some recipes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by SadieRose Promising, but not quite there yet
I mix this product with Splenda 50/50 to help with the clumping, to reach a higher level of sweetness, & to bring the $$price down.
I'm still looking for the perfect sweetener. This is not it, but it's the best I've found so far. I'm trying to avoid artificial sweeteners altogether, but still need Splenda to make this product work.
Swansons - please keep working on this product. LoHan has such potential - it just isn't ready for prime time; however, I still recommend it since there isn't anything better.
Pros: sweet enough & less expensive than other outlets
Con: very lumpy/clumpy, still very expensive

I love the way Lo Han sweetens tea, protein shakes and even cookies. It has no aftertaste and even my husband in unaware of my "secret ingredient" thinking it is sugar:)

Rated 2 out of 5 by L8Bloomer Strong unpleasant aftertaste
I was disappointed because other reviewers didn't experience much of an aftertaste from this monk fruit extract product, but I did. I guess my tongue is extra sensitive, but for me, the bitter aftertaste makes Lo Han a poor substitute for sugar or artificial sweeteners like sucralose or aspartame. It's even worse than stevia.

I was so happy to see that Swanson has now offered a larger version of this product as I use quite a bit of it. Usually, I flavor my greek yogurt with it and there are no calories to worry about. Plus, even though I do not remember why, I do remember that Lo Han is a very healthy sweetener.

Lo Han is a very good sweetener. I have used Stevia for years. I like Lo Han, monk fruit, but I prefer Stevia. If you are using this for the JJ Virgin way to health I think you will like it. It does take some adjustment for the sweet tooth freak, as I am. You have to experiment to find out how much to use for various drinks and foods. Try it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by misschris Wonderful sweetener alternative
I follow the JJ Virgin diet and have eliminated sugar from my diet. I am always on the lookout for a great sweetener alternative. This one is great. It is powder so it mixes well in liquids. However, it is very sweet. So be careful not to overdue it when using it. I wish that it was easier to find this product. I've never seen it sold in the stores. This is the best site to find monk fruit with no other fillers.

Did not care for the product at all. In fact, I threw it out. It had an after taste, was very sweet and turned into one solid mass when I tried to sweeten hot oatmeal.
