  • Natural low-calorie sweetener great for healthy weight management

  • Organic yacon syrup will satisfy your sweet tooth without compromising your goals!

  • Pure and natural

  • Use as a substitute for honey, maple syrup or molasses

If you’ve been struggling to shed unwanted pounds, we have some great news for you: now there’s a new natural sweetener with only a fraction of the calories found in regular sugar. It’s called yacon syrup, and it’s rapidly gaining popularity as a low-calorie sweetening option for those fighting “the battle of the bulge” and others looking for natural ways to eat healthier without skimping on taste. Hailed on popular television as a “metabolism game-changer,” its delightfully sweet, rich flavor has enabled thousands of dieters to satisfy their sweet-tooth without compromising their weight loss goals. Plus, Yacon Syrup's remarkably low glycemic index makes it great for those on restricted diets.

When tasting yacon syrup for the first time, most people find it hard to believe that it has just five calories per teaspoon. The secret? Most of yacon’s sweetness comes from fructooligosaccharides (FOS), a type of sugar molecule that stimulates the taste buds much like ordinary table sugar, but passes through the digestive tract unmetabolised, reducing the caloric value. Instead, FOS serves as a source of nourishment for the beneficial probiotic bacteria that reside in the lower GI tract.

Swanson 100% Certified Organic Yacon Syrup is derived exclusively from organically grown Peruvian yacon root through a natural extraction process without the use of chemical solvents. It is 100% pure and natural with no additives, preservatives or artificial ingredients of any kind. Whether you’re trying to lose weight or simply looking to cut back on the sugar in your daily diet, yacon syrup—along with healthy diet and exercise—can help you accomplish your goals while still satisfying your desire for life’s sweeter things.

As versatile as it is healthy, Swanson Organic Yacon Syrup makes a tasty addition to yogurt, cereal, juices or smoothies, or you can use it as a substitute for honey, maple syrup or molasses in the kitchen or on the table.

Here's a simple recipe for caramel sauce using Swanson Organic Yacon Syrup:

8 tablespoons cashew or macadamia nut butter

2 tablespoons coconut butter

4 tablespoons coconut water, room temperature

2 tablespoons yacon syrup

2 tablespoons maple syrup

1 pinch of vanilla bean

1/4 teaspoon of salt

Combine ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

To spice up this recipe you can add cacao nibs or chopped nuts. For example, turn the caramel sauce into a turtle caramel sauce by adding cacao nibs and chopped pecans.

Unique Nutritional Composition

Along with the highest ever reported levels of scFOS (31–89 g/kg), yacon contains potassium (1.8–2.9 g/kg) and fiber (3.1–4.1g/kg). The total calorie energy ranges from 1.48 to 2.24 kcal/g, a value four to five times lower than other natural sweeteners. (Nutr. Res. 2012 Nov;32(11):884-92. Doi: 10.1007/s11130-013-0362-0.)

Effective Weight-Management Support

In a double-blind, placebo-controlled study with 55 overweight women, those taking yacon syrup one hour before meals lost an average of 33 pounds and 4 inches off their waists over the course of 120 days, while those in the placebo group actually gained weight. (Clin. Nutr. 2009 Apr;28(2): 182-187. Doi: 10.1016/j.clnu.2009.01.013.)

Gastrointestinal Comfort and Regularity

In another double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover study with 16 healthy men and women, daily consumption of yacon was found to significantly reduce transit time through the gastrointestinal tract from 59.7 +/- 4.3 to 38.4 +/- 4.2 h (p < 0.001). The researchers noted the lack of bloating-related disturbances, which are not uncommon with FOS, suggesting that yacon is better tolerated than other FOS sources and leading to the overall conclusion that yacon presents an effective alternative for promoting GI comfort and regularity. (Digestion. 2008;78(1):30-3. doi: 10.1159/000155214)

100% Certified Organic Yacon Syrup is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't do without I discovered Yacon root many years ago. I have been using this syrup for over a year. I have more energy, and I do not crave sweets like I use to . I think everyone should be taking this every day. Also..a great sweetener.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I like the sweetness! This syrup tastes very good. I put some in my coffee in the mornings, with some cream, So good, yum!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than maple or agave Many paleo or keto recipes for sugar free treats use maple, agave, or honey which has too many carbs for me. This is a great substitute which has a lower glycemic index and satisfies my sweet tooth though is a little more expensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Organic Yacon Syrup Quality: I have nothing to compare it to; this is my first yacon purchase. There is nothing off-putting or questionable about this product. The syrup is a dark molasses color with a deep, unique, pleasant aroma. The flavor, it is so similar to buckwheat honey, I had to check the ingredients. It's like someone took most of the sweetness out of buckwheat honey, that's the best comparison in flavor. There's a slight gourd-like or squash-like back note aftertaste. Not unpleasant at all, but it's there. My very picky girlfriend was not disgusted, an impressive feat by any standard. Value: Best price per ounce I could find online. Effectiveness: I'm using it as an alternative sweetener and supplement in smoothies and coffee. It's not very sweet, but I don't have much of a sweet tooth, so it works well for me. Using Google Scholar, do a search for yacon studies and read a little about this great plant. Convenience: It arrives in a well designed squeeze bottle with a serviceable opening; convenient. Satisfaction: I'm very satisfied. I bought two bottles and will go through both of them and order more when they run out.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product Swanson 14 oz. organic yacon syrup is good value for the money. Scores 8/10 on the "pours thick as molasses" scale.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for what is suppose to be used This a very good substitute syrup. Works as 1:1 sub of molasses when you are making gingerbread muffins and waffles. Paleo kind to be more specific. Also works very well in smoothies. If you use recommended amount you should not be able to detect that similar to molasses flavor. I think person who gave this product one star was not fair. They obviously did not use this product they way it meant to be used. Even if you do not care for molasses this could be good add on for cooking when used according to directions. It definitely saves the number of carbs. And it can work well for digestive system but that depends on a person. I can only speak for myself. But if you think this is some kind of low carb syrup you can spread on pancakes you are looking at the wrong product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Only if you like the taste of molasses I know its healthier but unless you like the taste of molasses you may not like it. Now I used it to make a low carb pecan pie cheesecake and it worked just fine for that purpose. It might be good for that certain detoxing lemonade mixture too. I will use the rest for that!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not good Was looking for a good tasting low carb syrup. I didn't care for the taste.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great syrup This is a great syrup! It has a great flavor (similar to molasses), but has a much lower glycemic index than molasses, as well as a pretty low carb content for a sweetener. And once again, Swanson beats the competition on price!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good! This yacon syrup is so healthy and the perfect accompaniment to pancakes. Love the taste, a little like molasses. It will not give you a sugar high. I like it better than maple syrup and it is a good weight loss aid.
