Rated 5 out of 5 by Dukeofurl Carob ice cream?
The answer is yes. I make it in a 2.1 qt. Whynter. My recipe uses 30 gm. of carob powder with 18 oz. liquids. Its very good. You can add walnuts or almonds too for a more luscious feel.

This powder is easy to add to baked goods, warm drinks, and smoothies. Sweet, warm taste that complements cacao nicely. I add it along with cacao to enhance the flavor without the extta caffeine for my kids.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AmaranthRose Carob Powder Certified Organic Raw
I bought this because it had a good price and I had been wanting some carob to try with cooking. I was not disappointed. I have used it measure for measure as a substitute for cocoa in brownies and hardly knew the difference. I have not tried it in liquid hot chocolate but think it would work as well. I was planning on storing it in a cupboard but it has not left the stovetop where I set it after using it. Definitely something I will order again when this supply runs out.

Rated 3 out of 5 by TAINE Thought it would taste better
This carob powder has a very dark color contrary to other brands and is a little bit bitter. Of course the carob is naturally not sweet but this powder is really too bitter. It doesn't dissolve well and needs to be almost blended to get dissolved. I was also surprised that there is no measuring spoon in the container.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Geenga Tastes better than roasted carob
I like the taste of this carob better than roasted, and it's so sweet that I don't have to add sugar; I can use stevia, dates, bananas, or any other natural sweetener if it's not sweet enough.

Carob has been a great chocolate substitute for me as I monitor my indulgence of chocolate. I am a chocolate lover and I wanted a substitute to satisfy my taste without the calories of refined sugar. I have found several recipes on pinterest to help me get through my chocolate fast! I would recommend it to anyone desiring to have more balance with their chocolate intake.

I was hesitant to buy this the first time because it was not roasted and I have always used roasted carob. However it tastes the same as roasted and even seems to blend more readily with other ingredients for baking and making icings and fudge. The container keeps it from absorbing moisture like some packaging does which makes it easier to work with. Its good stuff!

I drink it mixed in skim milk for a cold treat and with water for a cocoa-like drink.
I haven't tried to bake with it yet.

I recently made a chocolate cake and used
carob powder instead of cocoa. My family loved it!
I loved how the cake seemed to maintain its' freshness.. even two weeks later.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Axle2 One of my favorite items on Swansons.
I am unable to consume chocolate. This is not chocolate, BUUUUuuuut......when I mix about 2 tablespoons of this carob powder, and a little agave nectar in milk with a very, very small amount of Himalayan salt, I don't miss chocolate at all; in fact, now I PREFER this over chocolate milk. I used to consume chocolate, and a LOT of it in my past, so I know what it tastes like.
Will this be the case with you? I don't know, but consider this: Both carob bean powder and coco bean powder is bitter straight. Have you ever eaten dark chocolate before? If you mix this carob powder wrong in milk, and with no sweetener, you may find it distasteful. But, if you get the mixture right, you may like what you get.
This stuff is excellent. Organic, mixes easily, tasted good when done right..........ORGANIC, ( I love organic foods) and is affordable. Now I am sure that you can make this into other foods that mimic chocolate, like candy bars, brownies, CAKE, etc., but I have been contempt with milk chocolate thus far. I am sure that this stuff is as versatile as coco powder.
My only major complaint with this product is that there's no scoop in the container, so be prepared to use your own utensils.
Why are you still reading this? If you are able to take carob powder and want an alternative to coco beans, then get you some! :)

Rated 3 out of 5 by gwynn Would prefer if it came in a bag
I don't have any complaints with the product, however I am hesitant to order again because of the completely wasteful packaging. I don't know if I can justify ordering 2 huge plastic bottles of carob powder versus going to another online store and buying raw carob powder packaged in bags. The bottle is huge with a wide mouth and not as convenient or environmental as having a resealable bag.
Because my friends are vegan/vegetarian who typically care about reusing/recycling and smaller packaging, I couldn't recommend this product, however again I have no qualms with the contents of the jar.

BEST CAROB EVER BECAUSE:
BEST TASTE - NO BAD AFTERTASTE.
ORGANIC IS BETTER - MORE NUTRITION.
RAW IS BETTER.
VERY FINE POWDER, MIXES EASILY WITH ANYTHING. I ADD IT TO MY NONFAT PLAIN YOGURT.
EXCELLENT PACKAGING - ALL PLASTIC HIGH QUALITY SEALED JAR. NO ALUMINUM IN THE PACKAGING.

Comment#1: The nutrition information looks like the Carob Powder has no nutrition because the nutrition information only shows a 5 gram serving size. If you look at the United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference Release 27, you will see that for a one cup serving size, carob flour is very nutritious.
Comment#2: Caution: Do NOT try to pour it out of the jar. The fine powder will spill all over your table. Take a clean scoop and scoop it out carefully.
