  • Supports strong bones

  • 5,000 IU of vitamin D3 per softgel

Support bone health with Healthy Origins Vitamin D3. This formula delivers 5000 IU vitamin D3 with each softgel. Vitamin D3 is synthesized in the body from sunlight and only a small amount can be obtained from food. The winter season and most all sunscreen products inhibit the body's ability to produce optimal levels of vitamin D. As a result, vitamin D3 supplementation becomes even more necessary to ensure your body receives an adequate supply. Free of sugar, yeast, wheat, gluten, soy, barley, fish, shellfish, peanuts, egg or milk. No preservatives, artificial colors or artificial flavors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Vitamin D3 Source This is a great product with no unhealthy fillers or ingredients. I love the fact that they use olive oil! It's also a higher potency which I need.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My very favorite brand of Vitamin D! This is the most healthy, best usable and assimilable form of Vitamin D, and just check the ingredient list - OLIVE OIL! How great is that? Most other companies use cheap and unhealthy soybean oil for filler instead. This is an outstanding brand that I have taken a number of other supplements in, and I am very pleased with it. The softgels are fun to take, very small and easy to swallow, and they smell good! You won't find a better value than this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite Vitamin D3 This is my favorite Vitamin D3 because it is in a gel-cap with oil, and D3 needs oil in order to be fully absorbed. But it's not packaged with cheap safflower or soybean oil, it's packaged with healthy olive oil. There just isn't anything better.

Q: Why are some vitamin D products measured in IU while others are in mcg?

Due to changes in FDA labeling guidelines, vitamin D amounts must now be listed in micrograms (mcg) on supplement facts and nutrition labels instead of international units (IU). Although these new guidelines were issued in 2016, updates weren't required until June 2020.

At Swanson, we began updating our labels in early 2017. You will see a mixture of both IU and mcg as our national brand partners complete this process.

Q: Did my vitamin D supplement change?

A: You may have noticed a change in the daily value percentage on your favorite vitamin D product, but that doesn't mean your product changed. The FDA increased the recommended daily intake (RDA) of vitamin D, which means the same product with the same ingredient amounts fulfills a lower percentage of the RDA than it prior to the change.

Q: How much vitamin D do I need each day?

In 2016, the Food and Nutrition Board increased the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) of vitamin D for most adults from 10 mcg (400 IU) to 15 mcg (600 IU) per day, and 20 mcg (800 IU) for ages 70+.

Some doctors and nutritionists recommend higher daily vitamin D intakes, especially for those at risk for having low levels. The Vitamin D Council, an organization dedicated to raising awareness about vitamin D, recommends average adults supplement with 125 mcg (5,000 IU) of vitamin D daily. Talk with your doctor about your individual needs.
