Having heard of quiona on a cooking show, I was only able to find very small, very expensive, pre-flavored or seasoned packages of it. Since I live in a very small town, I have to travel 60 miles round trip for major grocery items like tofu, but that trip is also expensive!
Now that I've ordered Eden Organic Red Quinoa from Swanson, my vegetarian taste buds are very, very happy.
I especially like the taste and versatility of Eden Organic Red Quinoa. I added some to a vegetable soup I made yesterday...the "kitchen sink" soup, with anything and everything fresh I could find. The quinoa added great taste, texture, and more protein. Next, I'm planning a from-scratch quinoa tabouli I'm pretty sure it will be yummy because the quinoa already has the subtle flavor and texture that will enhance all the other ingredients.
An especially good feature of this quinoa is that it is easy to cook, easy to store, and easy to keep for later uses...like tabouli.
If that works out -- and I know it will -- I'll be on the look-out for more ways to use the wonderful Eden Organic Red Quinoa so easily available and reasonably priced at Swanson!
Maybe "quinoa vegie burgers?" Have to just see about that.

Quite succinctly put, this Eden Foods Quinoa is Top Quality. --- Organic, Delicious and Nutritious, and Easy to Prepare. It's all good.
I especially like that Quinoa is not a grain, but a SEED that is High in Protein, Gluten-Free, and Easy to Digest. It fits into my program in every way.
Quinoa can be bland if not jazzed up when prepared. Use your own imagination to suit your own tastes. I simply follow the easy directions on the package, and then I generally start the jazzing up process with lots of Himalayan Crystal Salt, Coarse Black Pepper, Oregano, Granulated Garlic, and about an ounce of Apple Cider Vinegar when I prepare a cup (dry measure) of Quinoa. Sometimes I also add some diced up Red Onion, Red Bell Pepper, and/or Poblano or Anaheim Pepper and let those cook with the Quinoa. Gives the finished product nice chewy texture.
I have grown to really like Quinoa as a very versatile side dish. I enjoy it frequently these days instead of pasta, potatoes, or brown rice. (I never ate white rice.) Sometimes I pre-cook Wild Rice (which is, interestingly enough, not wild, it is cultivated, and is not rice --- it is a seed, as is Quinoa.) and blend it in with my Quinoa. Mmmmm.
Of all the Quinoa I've tried from the local markets, I don't find any to be as good as this superior Quinoa from Eden Foods. I can always count on Eden Foods. --- And I can count on good prices from Swanson Health Products. Works for me.

This is my first time trying the red quinoa and I'm not sure if it is the amazing color on my plate or what, but I'm in love! I always cook my quinoa in chicken broth and this red quinoa is the best i have tasted yet. Just ordered another bag. The fiber in quinoa also helps me stay regular if you catch my drift...haha

I did not like Eden Foods Red Quinoa when I cooked it per the preparation instructions on the package. So I cooked it the way I cook other brands of quinoa and I still could taste that 'nutty' flavor.
To leave no grain 'uncooked,' I boiled the water, adding half that amount of red quinoa. Cooked it for 12-15 minutes, and let it stand.
Since red quinoa is more expensive than 'white' quinoa, I might try cooking both together.

Not as good as the regular Quinoa. Regular is crunchy and nutty. The Red is bland, not sweet and has a soft texture.
