Do You Remove the Lovastatin from Your Red Yeast Rice?
Vitamins and Supplements FAQs • February 18, 2012

Question: Do dried fruits such as apples, raisins, prunes have any of the benefits of fresh fruits? Has the lovastatin been removed from the red yeast rice products in your catalog? Are there other benefits from the products?

Dried fruits contain all the nutrients of the fresh fruits without the water (assuming the fruits have been gently dried, so you don’t have undue destruction of vitamins….). Our Traditional Red Yeast Rice has all components which would be naturally occurring, though they will vary from batch to batch in concentration because of natural product variation. We do not deliberately remove any of the natural components.

To be classified as a dietary supplement, a Red Yeast Rice product must be in its traditional non-standardized form and contain only naturally present levels of active components. We have reformulated our Red Yeast Rice to contain the traditional, non-standardized ingredient. Traditional Red Yeast Rice is a natural "whole-food" ingredient similar to a whole herb; in other words it is not processed, concentrated or standardized to specific levels of active or marker compounds.
