easy for baking
I love this buckwheat flour and use it to make all of my pancakes and waffles. this is a high quality flour with great taste and awesome for baking muffins too. would highly recommend this flour as a healthier, more nutrient dense, gluten-free alternative to other flours.

Unlike many buckwheat pancake mixes which also contains whole wheat flour, this is simply buckwheat flour and makes delicious pancakes!

When trying to stay within my gluten-free diet guidelines, occasionally I want to have pancakes. Buckwheat, not really any kind of wheat, lets me do that for a nice change of pace. It does have a distinctive flavor however and may take some getting used to. You can always combine several types of gluten-free flour together to make a lighter flavor. Makes good pan bread, too!

I love this flour for pancakes. As long as Swanson remembers to seal it in a ziplock before shipping, it is great. When they forget, it always leaks powder all over the box and other products, because it is only closed by folding over the top of the bag several times and partially sealing with glue. It is great flour and I love it, but it can destroy an order because Swanson doesn't seem to be aware of the problem. I have brought it to their attention several times, and it did arrive properly packaged the last time I ordered.

Everything was fine. The package of the contents opened & flour splashed all over, because it was stuffed in one small box.

Flavor must take getting used to
Very strong flavor that is overpowering. I want to find a gluten-free flour that is not as strong tasting.

Buckwheat pancakes are one of my comfort foods. Buckwheat has a low glycemic value. It can be used in bread too. Buckwheat has a bit of a bite which can be smoothed out by adding a little yogurt to the recipe.
