Antioxidant for overall support
Since this substance was hghly recommended by the LINUS PAULING INSTITUTE for seniors I have included it in my supplement regimen along with L-Carnitine which was also recommended in the same report. It performs some of the same effects as Vit.C and Vit.E and also helps protect and recycle these nutrients. Great for sugar metabolism, and maintaining muscle mass.

Meets recommendation of our MD
Alpha lipoic acid was recommended by one of our MDs. Swanson brand meets reqirements very well as do the many vitamins and supplements we use from Swanson.

Bad Reaction
This is my 2nd attempt to review, so hope this one goes through. I used one 300mg ALA per day for 3 weeks and developed a bad reaction. Luckily I isolate supplements when trying something new. I found my reaction associated with ALA on the Internet. After stopping the ALA my symptoms gradually faded and went away after about 2 weeks. I also felt a burning sensation after swallowing which caused me to chase it with a lot of water. Obviously ALA is not for everyone.

I read about this a number of years ago in Reader's Digest. A number of extensive studies showed that it slowed down the aging process. I don't look my age so maybe it does work.
