GOOD REPORTS
Recently, as I was putting together a urinary tract flush / cleanse / health program, I read good things about Corn Silk. Swanson doesn't carry it in the tea form from Alvita or other tea brands, so I ordered the capsules. I pull apart 4 to 6 capsules and dump the corn silk contents into the pot of water along with a half dozen other herbs renowned for urinary tract health. I bring that mixture to a boil, and then turn down to a simmer for 30 minutes. The resultant "tea" tastes fine at room temperature with nothing added (such as sugar or honey or lemon or cream) as a flavor enhancement. I actually brew up two pots with all the herbs I use in one batch, and I pour it into a big pitcher, which I drink in total daily. I feel that it works really well for me, and as I said above, the natural taste is fine.
The other herbs that I get from Swanson for my urinary tract tea are: Uva Ursi, Buchu, Dandelion, Alfalfa, Parsley, and Pau d'Arco. I also toss in a couple of Green Tea bags, and a couple of Tblsp of whole Juniper Berries.
I make sure that I get plenty of electrolytes daily, because the pitcher of "tea" and all the pure water I drink really flush out my system. I take 2 of Swanson's Potassium Citrate capsules 3 times daily, and I use Swanson's Ultra Himalayan Crystal Salt on everything for my healthy sodium. I know it is unhealthy, even dangerous, to run all the electrolytes out of one's system. Along with all the fresh vegetables I eat, I can tell from the way I feel that my electrolytes are fine.
Swanson's prices on all these herbs, be they in capsules or tea bags, are half (or less) of what they cost down at the corner health food store.
