Swanson Premium Alpha Lipoic Acid
I purchased this for Stomach acids and found it caused me more harm than good. It gave me heart burn and I tried it several times but had to give up on it. Thanks but not this time.

be careful lipoic acid can irritate mouth
Don't chew capsule. Don't hold it in mouth long
enough for the gelatine capsule to dissolve.
Rather swallow it with a good gulp of water.

Average
I tried this product because the Swanson Ultra ALA was on back order and I didn't want to wait. This product seems to be the same but just diluted with more excipients. I prefer the Swanson Ultra 300mg.

Great Antioxident
You must remember ALA is not absorbed very good by the body. About 30% of it gets absorbed so up your dose. You can get the R version which is more expensive but also better absorbed.

An essential supplement
I have regularly been taking 100mg daily of Alpha Lipoic acid for many years, and during this time, I have tried many brands of this supplement. Swanson Premium Alpha Lipoic Acid is an acceptable substitute to the higher-priced name brand varieties. However, I have noticed that the potency of this brand is not as effective as some other commercial products. Still, it is, on the whole, a good value for this essential nutrient.

Brain booster
I’ve been taking Swanson’s Alpha-lipoic acid with Acetyl-L-carnitine for a couple of years, because I read in a science magazine that clinical trails demonstrated that the combination seems to really improve memory in aging rats. A-lipoic acid may be a good way to fight cognitive decline in the aging. I take them both in middle of the day on an empty stomach. I have good recall and concentration, and want to continue to have them as I age!

Most protective supplement!
