Good and effective product
I've used this product for a number of years. It keeps my gray covered effectively for 3 - 4 weeks. Saba botanical recommends applying a 2nd time if you are using this product for the first time. It has something to do with the way henna works. The color builds with each application. The color also intensifies after 2 -3 days. I've had the best success not using commercial shampoos and not conditioning before coloring. Anything that will coat the hair before coloring you should avoid. Using commercial shampoos can cause your efforts to fail. They have additives that help to produce shine and to moisturize. These additives coat the hair and thus the henna color which sits on the hair is unable to stick. I use Avalon Organics Lavender shampoo and I get good color. I also divide the henna in 3 sandwich size zip locks and mix as I need since there is a 10 min. waiting time after mixing and then 20 min. limit to apply (in the instructions). I cut a small piece off the end of the zip lock and squeeze the henna on my hair a small section at a time and use my finger to work it into that section. I can’t do my whole head that fast so that’s why I divide the product. My hair is a little longer than shoulder length and for the most part I just do the roots. It takes about 1 hour for me to apply well, 1-2 hours to leave in and the remaining time to rinse well and I usually shampoo and condition the ends. I use the Avalon Organics Conditioner near the scalp to help with the smell of the henna. It works and it doesn't strip the color. I use it for the first 3 shampoos and after that the smell is fine and I stop. I also use a good conditioner on the ends and usually only from the ears down. The conditioner seems to work out the newer color so I try to avoid that area. I usually plan for 4 hours to do my hair. I use one package most of the time and one and a half when I have to do more thorough coverage. Hope this helps.

did not dye my hair
I was highly disappointed with this product. I followed the directions and made the paste (mixed boiling water with 50 grams paste). After letting it cool I applied the paste on my hair and left it for two hours. After two hours I washed my hair and I was disappointed to see that my hair was the same-- the greys were still grey!! Two hours wasted for nothing. Will be requesting refund for this item.
