A study published in Obstetrical & Gynecological Survey concludes that omega-3 essential fatty acids (EFAs)-constituents of the membranes of all cells in the body and precursors of locally produced hormones, eicosanoids-are important for maintaining health, especially in women. Scientists studied the effects of omega-3 EFAs on some of the most common conditions affecting women and found that omega-3s support women during pregnancy, promote cardiovascular health and more. Researchers also noted that omega-3 EFAs are especially important for women receiving hormone therapy.
