Ginger Eases Morning Sickness Symptoms

September 2004

Ginger does not prevent morning sickness, but it may help mollify some of the nausea experienced by pregnant women, researchers reported in the April 2004 issue of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Researchers from the University of South Australia in Adelaide gave nearly 300 women who were less than 16 weeks pregnant either 350 mg of ginger or 25 mg of pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B-6) three times per day for three weeks. Researchers found that both ginger and vitamin B-6, which is sometimes taken to counteract morning sickness, worked equally well at supporting mothers-to-be.
