LycoRed Earns Patent for Lyc-O-Mato

The U.S. Office of Patents and Trademarks has granted patent protection to LycoRed Natural Products Industries, Ltd. for its invention based on phytoene and phytofluene, carotenoids found in natural tomato extract. The carotenoids support cardiovascular health and promote antioxidant activity. LycoRed Natural Products is the manufacturer of Lyc-O-Mato® tomato extract. Clinical studies have demonstrated Lyc-O-Mato's role in supporting cardiovascular health and show that the presence of phytoene and phytofluene in the tomato extract are essential to its efficacy. "This may very well explain why synthetic lycopene does not provide the same antioxidant benefit as does Lyc-O-Mato," said Zohar Nir, Ph.D., vice president of new product development and scientific affairs for LycoRed. Lyc-O-Mato tomato extract is also well-known for the support it provides for prostate health.
