MegaNatural BP® May Help Lower Blood Pressure

December 2009

A study published in Metabolism Clinical and Experimental indicates that the use of MegaNatural BP® grapeseed extract, in conjunction with lifestyle modification, may effectively lower blood pressure in patients with metabolic syndrome.

Researchers undertook the study "to determine whether grapeseed extracts (GSE) that contain powerful vasodilator phenolic compounds lower blood pressure in subjects with the metabolic syndrome."

The placebo-controlled trial administered either 150 mg per day, 300 mg per day of the grapeseed extract or a placebo to 24 subjects with metabolic syndrome. After one month of treatment, there was a significant reduction in blood pressure in both groups given MegaNatural BP. Both systolic and diastolic blood pressures were lowered. There was no change in the group given the placebo.

Researchers concluded: "These findings suggest that GSE could be used as a nutraceutical in a lifestyle modification program for patients with the metabolic syndrome."
