  • Pacific Northwest White Albacore Tuna

  • Cooked only once with no added water or oil

  • Hand filleted and hook-and-line caught

  • Natural source of Omega-3 essential fatty acids

Raincoast Trading Albacore Tuna are caught 50 miles off the Washington, Oregon and British Columbia coastlines in the Pacific Northwest region. When the tuna pass through this area their flesh has its greatest oil content making for a better tasting, more nutritious fish. Raincoast Trading ALBACORE TUNA does not present a health concern in regard to mercury accumulation, because they are small, immature fish that are harvested at only a few years of age and have not had time to accumulate the quantities of mercury that are deemed unsafe by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) or The US Food and Drug Agency (FDA).

Raincoast's "hook and line" fishing technique replaces traditional, dolphin-harming netting practices and helps reduce the number of non-targeted species being caught. The tuna are flash frozen, which seals in more of the tuna's natural oils, allowing the flavor of the fish to be preserved and to ensure that the premium quality and freshness of the product is maintained. The only time the tuna is cooked is during the actual canning procedure and then only once. This facilitates the preservation of the tuna's nutritional oils and natural flavor throughout the canning process, and consequently there is no need to add any water or oil to keep the fish moist in the can. Finally, to protect our customer's health and safety, Raincoast Trading regularly tests their tuna to ensure it does not contain unhealthy mercury levels.

Great tuna This is the best no salt added tuna I have found. Tastes great! December 4, 2014
Great Tuna!!! I would definetly recommend this Tuna a little more pricer than your average Starkist Tuna but this isn't your average tuna. It's fresh no fishy taste or the smell you normally have with other brands especially out of a can. I also use the one with sodium equally as good and less sodium than other low sodium regular tuna. Thanks Andrew Zimmerman from Bizzarre Foods show from turning me on to this tuna!! November 19, 2014
Good protein This fish is mild and delicious; it is a bit more dry than the super market varieties. November 17, 2014
good tuna Clean tasting tuna, all natural, no water added. Eat right out of the can. Will order again April 10, 2012
I am so glad to find a high quality tuna that does not contain salt so that I can add my own Himalayan sea salt. I add a dab of mayo, sea salt, ground pepper, and one chopped hard boiled egg. This I place on two slices of sour dough bread and add romaine lettuce. Good eating!! January 19, 2012
I love this stuff! The fat remains so the omega's remain too. I won't eat any other tuna but pole caught tuna now! August 21, 2011
No Salt Raincoast Tuna When my friend told me about this tuna I was very pleasantly surprised. Manufacturers pack so much salt into their tuna that I had to give up tuna as a staple along time ago. This by far the best tuna I have ever had and I will continue using it for as long as the Lord allows. Keep up the good work/ September 12, 2010
rainforest tuna very firm, solid, fresh-tasting tuna -- can label used to advertise as low in mercury, but does not now -- why? this is a bit of a concern (hence the 4 and not 5 stars) January 6, 2010
