Raincoast Trading ALBACORE TUNA does not present a health concern in regard to mercury accumulation, because they are small, immature fish that are harvested at only a few years of age and have not had time to accumulate the quantities of mercury that are deemed unsafe by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) or The US Food and Drug Agency (FDA). Raincoast Trading Albacore Tuna are caught 50 miles off the Washington, Oregon and British Columbia coastlines in the Pacific Northwest region. When the tuna pass through this area their flesh has its greatest oil content making for a better tasting, more nutritious fish.

Raincoast's "hook and line" fishing technique replaces traditional, dolphin-harming netting practices and helps reduce the number of non-targeted species being caught. The tuna are flash frozen, which seals in more of the tuna's natural oils, allowing the flavor of the fish to be preserved and to ensure that the premium quality and freshness of the product is maintained. The only time the tuna is cooked is during the actual canning procedure and then only once. This facilitates the preservation of the tuna's nutritional oils and natural flavor throughout the canning process, and consequently there is no need to add any water or oil to keep the fish moist in the can. Finally, to protect our customer's health and safety, Raincoast Trading regularly tests their tuna to ensure it does not contain unhealthy mercury levels.

Love this tuna I tried Raincoast tuna for the first time about 18 months ago. At the time I was using another brand but wanted to see how this brand was in comparison. I decided after my first can that I was switching to Raincoast and I haven't looked back since. The taste is always good and the meat is always solid. No Charlie Tuna with Raincoast. I have since purchased this brand for a few friends that aren't able to fit Raincoast tuna into their budget. This tuna is always worthy of their praises as it is mine. THE BEST tuna ever! This tuna is the best-tasting tuna i've ever eaten and i LOVE tuna. it's not packed in water or oil - just tuna. what that means is you get twice as much tuna in one can as you do in any other brand. so don't sweat the price, it's actually a much better deal than the others. and i always buy from swanson online because they have the best prices on this tuna, hands down. try it! you won't be disappointed if you like tuna. Label The label that is shown on your website is old or out dated?? Your website shows 15mg of sodium, and when receiving this product the label reads 110mg per serving?? I'm sure this is a honest mistake, but could be misleading on those searching for a low sodium product? November 15, 2011
