Did You Know? Low B vitamins—high homocysteine
As you age make sure you are getting a good supply of B vitamins.
They play an important role in helping maintain healthy homocysteine
levels in your cardiovascular system. Researchers in Germany evaluated
the dietary intake and the blood status of various B vitamins and
homocysteine concentrations in 178 younger (60-70 years old) female
seniors. They found that “even in younger, well-educated female
seniors, the prevalence of low B vitamin status and elevated plasma
homocysteine concentration is high.”
