HELPFUL HINTS:
- 1 Tablespoon Hodgson Mill® Corn Starch = 2 Tbsp. flour. Use for thickening gravies, sauces, soups and stews. When your recipe calls for flour, use instead ½ as much corn starch — the results will be creamier, too.
- To Thicken Hot Liquids, mix Corn Starch with a little cold liquid until smooth before adding to hot liquid.
- For Lower Calorie Gravies, pour off all fat from pan drippings, leaving the crusty brown particles. For liquid (replacing fat) use fat-free broth or water.
- Hodgson Mill® Corn Starch mixes more easily with cold water than flour will. Your gravies will always be satiny smooth.
