Kale - Brassica oleracea
Red Russian: Sweet flavor! Distinct, bright purple stems with slate-green, deeply lobed foliage. Leaves are tender and smooth. Grow as baby leaf or full-size plants.
Planting Tips: Hardy Biennial. Either direct seed or start transplants 4-6 weeks before planting date. Sow seeds as soon as hard frost has passed throughout the summer and into fall. Harvest individual leaves. Kale is very hardy and gets much sweeter after a hard frost. Overwinters in moderate climate.
