Doctor's Best Double-Strength SAMe 400 contains 400mg of active SAMe in each tablet. Doctor's Best utilizes only the highest quality Italian SAMe available on the market. S-Adenosyl Methionine (SAMe) is derived from the amino acid methionine and is one of the most important methyl donors in the central nervous system. Methylation (donation of methyl groups) is an essential process in ensuring the proper function of a number of organ systems. SAMe is involved in numerous biochemical reactions in tissues including the liver, joints and brain. SAMe is also required for biosynthesis of critical neurotransmitters and hormones. SAME 400 There are a number of SAMe products out there, but this one is 400 mg of S-Adenosyl Methionine "from 800 mg of SAM-e tosylate disulfate." What this means is we really ARE getting 400 mg, unlike the products that are not derived from the 800. If the box doesn't say it, you're not getting the amount you think you are. Also, This company has a better price than my local health food stores. May 13, 2013
