Wild Lettuce (Bitter lettuce, Lactucarium, Lactuca virosa, Green endive)
Not to be confused with garden lettuce L. sativa, wild lettuce was used by ancient Egyptians to support sleep and relaxation. Wild lettuce had a good time during the counterculture drug movement of the 1960s and 1970s. Today the leaves, sap and seed are still used for herbal support of sleep as well as respiratory health.
