Turmeric (Indian saffron, Curcuma longa, Yu Jin, Curcumin)
Turmeric or Curcumin, a member of the ginger family, is grown and harvested in India, China, Indonesia and other countries throughout Asia. This herb is used extensively in traditional Chinese and Indian (Ayurvedic) philosophies. Curcumin, an orange-yellow oil, is one of the active curcuminoid components in Turmeric and is found in curry spices. Turmeric/Curcumin, a potent antioxidant, has been extensively studied for immune support, digestive health and anti-aging.
Standardized turmeric extracts with 90-95% curcumin are recommended at 750-1,5000 milligrams per day in divided doses or 1.5-4.5 milliliters in tincture form.
